Baked Shrimp Scampi
Recipe courtesy of Ina Garten
Total: 43 min
Prep: 30 min
Cook: 13 min
Yield: 6 servings
Level: Easy

Ingredients

2 pounds (12 to 15 per pound) shrimp in the shell
3 tablespoons good olive oil
2 tablespoons dry white wine
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
12 tablespoons (1 1/2 sticks) unsalted butter, at room temperature
4 teaspoons minced garlic (4 cloves)
1/4 cup minced shallots
3 tablespoons minced fresh parsley leaves
1 teaspoon minced fresh rosemary leaves
1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
1 teaspoon grated lemon zest
2 tablespoons freshly squeezed lemon juice
1 extra-large egg yolk
2/3 cup panko (Japanese dried bread flakes)
Lemon wedges, for serving

Directions

Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F.

Peel, devein, and butterfly the shrimp, leaving the tails on. Place the shrimp in a mixing bowl and toss gently with the olive oil, wine, 2 teaspoons salt, and 1 teaspoon pepper. Allow to sit at room temperature while you make the butter and garlic mixture.

In a small bowl, mash the softened butter with the garlic, shallots, parsley, rosemary, red pepper flakes, lemon zest, lemon juice, egg yolk, panko, 1/2 teaspoon salt, and 1/4 teaspoon of pepper until combined.

Starting from the outer edge of a 14-inch oval gratin dish, arrange the shrimp in a single layer cut side down with the tails curling up and towards the center of the dish. Pour the remaining marinade over the shrimp. Spread the butter mixture evenly over the shrimp. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes until hot and bubbly. If you like the top browned, place under a broiler for 1 minute. Serve with lemon wedges.

How to Make Ina’s 5-Star Baked Shrimp Scam | Barefoot Contessa: Cook Like a Pro | Food Network

  1. Hey, I don't want nobaked shrimp calling me at 7pm asking for me to extend my car's warranty I don't have… butI heard it is worse when the crabs and prawns get involved in their own shell games…

  2. I don't know if the title was originally like this, but it's currently "Baked Shrimp Scam" lol

  3. This was hands down the best shrimp scampi I’ve made. I followed the directions with one exception, I didn’t use any rosemary. My shrimp seemed much smaller than Ina’s, but they cooked perfectly. The only thing I will change the next time I make this dish, will be removing the tails from the shrimp. Mine did not sit upright like hers and it made getting the topping evenly browned under the broiler more difficult.

  4. I don't know what was more delicious, the oven-baked shrimp or your rich wonderful voice.

  5. I've enjoyed watching her videos but I find the Latin music really off and out of place for a nice Jewish lady on the east end of Long Island.

  6. how in the world does this woman stay looking so young. has she had work done or what. love jeff too. maybe a good husband is the key. never had a good one . ha ha love these two.

  7. I made this for my nephew while he was in the hospital. He wasn't eating very much food but wanted shrimp scampi.he absolutely loved it.

  8. I love that Ina said she has to make a dish a couple times to make sure the flavor is exactly how she wants it. She makes it look so effortless, I just assume everything turns out perfectly the first time for her😊

  9. I feel the same joy cooking for my grandsons. They love it when your grandma come and cook whatever anything I enjoyed cooking that’s why I signed my pleasure and passion and I enjoy eating. I find my peaceful self when I’m cooking for a crowd nothing to distract me and I cook with love you don’t cook good love your food is not going to turn out right?
