This was an excellent meal. Everything was executed to technical perfection and was very elegant and refined. It was incredible to see the amount of flavor the kitchen was able to bring out in the vegetarian courses (especially the mushroom soup, which I and my friend were blown away by). The mushroom dessert was also really interesting. It clearly tasted of mushrooms, yet was unmistakably a dessert and not a savory dish.
However, I think I share some of the thoughts of a recent poster who posted about Geranium in this sub. While not a disappointment or underwhelming in any way, Geranium felt very restrained. I preferred the bolder and more aggressive approach the team at Frantzen took to the one at Geranium, and Frantzen was the better experience overall in my opinion. It was still an amazing meal, but if I were to compare, I think Oriole in Chicago offered at least as much quality for a much lower price (without the mad scramble to secure a reservation) and was not located a continent away. I’m glad to have been able to experience Geranium but am not in a particular hurry to return.
