My husband and I were in Tokyo earlier this month for a wedding, and we wanted to fit one special dinner in our jam packed schedule. Decided on Lature thanks to this subreddit as an unique experience of Japanese-French with a game meat emphasis and loved it!!

We went with the “Menu Special” with alcohol pairing and added a truffle risotto add-on and upgraded our main entree as well.

The sommelier asked if we like Sake, which we do, so some of the courses he brought out one of the traditional wine pairing for my husband and one sake for me and it was so interesting and unique! I think the sakes made it even more enjoyable for me.

We loved every dish but my favorites were:

The Eel was super fun as it was both Japanese and French tasting, with a unique crispy-ness not in traditional Unagi

My absolute favorite was the fish pie. The fish was Kuromutsu which in itself is seasonal and something I rarely get to eat, but the pie crust, sauce and sake pairing was pure perfection. (Unfortunately we forgot to take a picture after they cut/plated it with the sauce)

The main course ptarmigan I really enjoyed how balanced it was with the sauce plated on the side and I still able to taste the slight gaminess of the bird. I think this was also seasonal so we were lucky!

Honestly, several signature dishes seem to be offered in the lunch course as well, which is a much better deal in terms of cost, but we love to drink so wanted the full dinner + drinks experience so it was totally worth it!

  1. How much was the meal? I had the Lature plus lunch last month and it was around $43 with the Omakase reservation upcharge. Great value for the amount of food.
