Yes, I ate all three on the same day, hence tripleheader. It was a lunch followed by a dinner bang bang.
Lunch at the dining room at the Mansion at MGM Grand was a gorgeous space. Solid Cantonese fare well cooked, with sesame sauce abalone, braised wagyu beef tongue, and oil poached Goby ($260 for 3lb fish). They said they had a fish tank for the live seafood but I didn’t get to see it.
First dinner at Guy Savoy. Went with signature dishes. The Colors of Caviar might be my favorite caviar dish (previous favorites were versions from Eleven Madison Park). Just tremendous layering of tastes and textures. The artichoke soup was excellent. Chestnuts in many ways was excellent for the season and I thought a generous shaving of white truffles for a $40 supplement.
Second dinner was e by Jose Andres. Too much to describe, but this was the most enjoyable and entertaining meal. High points were very high, including the beef which rivals the best tasting menu beef main courses I’ve had. Sitting in a private room with 8 other foodies with free flowing discourse and interaction makes it truly a “show” and an experience. Also, it was the least expensive of the three meals which makes it great value.
I have more pictures but Reddit limit is 20. There were other meals on the trip but not sure if they qualify for this sub, such as an excellent meal at L’Atelier de Joel Robuchon (consistent and reliable as always), disappointment at Din Tai Fung (the soup dumplings were not what I remember from having them in Asia, the truffle one is a legit rip off, but the pork chop and spicy wontons were good), and a mediocre teppanyaki and sushi experience at Morimoto (the toro tartare was the highlight but that was about it).
