Here are some of my recs. As I mentioned I’m 100% open to other opinions. In no particular order:

1. [North dumpling](https://maps.app.goo.gl/zJVT3auuYhPDeayb9?g_st=ic) (10 for $4). These might be my favorites I’ve had, wrapper is thin and dumplings are juicy af
2. [Jin mei](https://maps.app.goo.gl/LgcQLu2TjPbWguwr9?g_st=ic) (15 for $5). Had these today, liked them but the wrapper was SO thick and chewy. With that said can’t beat the price and they had such nice crispy bottoms. Truly a hole in the wall.
3. [King dumplings](https://maps.app.goo.gl/eUgJWHsw1WntahcM9?g_st=ic) (10 for $4). Good, but I wouldn’t rush back, they were also a little rude compared to the others
4. [Fried dumpling](https://maps.app.goo.gl/t4u4PrjnYGHWJVi1A?g_st=ic) (13 for $5). Really good but tbh tasted more like steamed than fried. Nonetheless very good.

5 years ago I would have recommended Vanessa’s but it’s just not good anymore 🙁 it’s also about double the price of those above.

Are there any hard hitters I’m missing?

Also love North Dumplings, they are so good!

My favourite though are the fried dumplings at Super Taste. Another one up there for me is Tasty Dumpling

Highly recommend both Shu Jiao Fu Zhou and Sanmiwago (although they are a bit more expensive).

    Also, check out Tasty Dumpling.

The lady at Fried Dumpling fries and then steams the dumplings so they are a bit of both.

Not being helpful but just commenting to say RIP Prosperity Dumpling and RIP Lam Zhou 😭 we will never forget you

While we’re discussing dumplings, does anyone know what the sauce is at Fried Dumpling?

  5. Keep in mind traditionally northern style dumplings tend to have thicker skin while the south have thinner or more translucent skins. Honestly, the base standard filling for any dumpling is chive and pork, while cabbage is up there but can’t beat the flavour boost from chives.

While I like north dumpling, I can’t say it’s my #1 since I usually get dumplings that have been sitting there for a while (I have been many times since I’m in the area a lot).

Shu jiao fu zhou has my favorite dumplings, and their frozen dumplings are S tier. I do still need to try king dumplings and jin mei though. Supreme Restaurant (formerly 100 mott st I believe) has my favorite XLB, though I still need to try shanghai 21.
