CHICKEN AND RICE RECIPE

Ingredients:

Whole Chicken or Chicken Parts
White Rice May vary
(2 Cups Broth to 1 Cup Rice)
(4 Cups Broth to 2 Cups Rice) etc.
1/2 Stick of Butter (optional)
1 Medium Chopped Onion
1 Medium Chopped Bell Pepper
1 Tablespoon Garlic Powder
1 Tablespoon of Onion Powder
Salt and Black Pepper to taste

For a Creamier Chicken and Rice
Use 1 Can of Cream of Chicken

We are at home cooking with miss brandon b so welcome from miss brinith in the family on this nice beautiful day today we’re making old-fashioned chicken and rice y’all and here are our Ingredients good morning good morning good morning today i decided to share with y’all my chicken and rice recipe and i was going to make it off camera then i decided to turn my camera on so y’all can see how i make it okay as you can see in this

Pot i do have my onion and bell pepper chopped up and in this pot i am putting my chicken this is a whole cut up chicken here i’m adding my chopped onions and bell peppers And i’m adding some salt and some black pepper and i’m also adding some garlic powder and you can also add onion powder if i had it i would have added it but i didn’t have it at the time okay we’re going to stir this around okay here as y’all can see my chicken

Health started boiling and i’m i just turned my heat down it was really rapidly boiling and i turned it turned it down and i’m just gonna let it cook like on a medium high heat with a top on it probably a medium heat with a top on it

A lot of times when i do when i instead of just putting the top way on it i would put it like that not all the way i would you know just put it like that and let it continue to boil okay y’all as soon as my chicken gets

Done i’m gonna be right back okay it’s been like this chicken been cooking maybe like 20 minutes and i’m checking it to see if it’s ready i’m checking one of the big pieces to make sure it’s ready yes it’s been cooking like 20-25 minutes and it is done

And this is the time where if you want your chicken boneless take it out take the meat off and then put it back into your pot but me i’m not gonna do this i’m gonna i’m gonna cook mine with the bone in this is the way i remember my mother

Making it and so that’s the way i’m gonna do it i’m figuring i may have like eight to ten cups of broth in my pot and so what i’m putting in here i’m using like four cups of rice so you have to kind of pinpoint it how

Much broth that was in there i should have counted it but i didn’t but i’m gonna add my rice time to time go back through and make sure your rice isn’t sticking to the bottom of your pot i say i’m not gonna place it on there all the way

Okay i’m back i got like a half a stick of butter i’m gonna add to this this is optional you do not have to do this i’m adding like a half a sticker but as y’all can see my rice is getting ready see them came up there to the top and this is

Almost completely ready but we got just a little bit more cooking to do i’m gonna add just a little bit more black pepper to mine something about the the chicken and rice i just love that black pepper and mine so i’m gonna add just a little bit

More to mine you can use cayenne pepper if you prefer but i’m going to use just black pepper okay i’m gonna let this finish cooking i’m gonna be back the battle result okay we are back i just turned my head off this is ready i’m going to taste some just just make sure

My rice is cooked let me get something from this from the center yes this is ready i’m gonna let this just sit i’m not gonna touch it for maybe five minutes and i’m gonna be back with the final result Okay y’all i am back my chicken and rice is done it’s ready to be served okay if y’all want a more creamier chicken and rice you can also add a can of cream of chicken soup or some cream of mushroom soup whichever one you want to use

  8. This is the way I remember it cooked..it looks great…my mother and father are from So Carolina ( I was born in Newark)..my mother made sure I only got Carolina Rice when she sent me to the store..Black American traditions at its best..ps..I better not bring home Uncle Ben's Rice lol

  10. This is JUST how my mother used to cook it. It was one of those meals she would make to stretch for a couple days. I didn't always enjoy it as a kid. But when I grew up I would miss it and would have her cook it for me from time to time. She lives in Vegas now so we are far apart so now I have to cook it. I'm going to cook it tonight for my wife.
