It does leak and is going straight into the recycle bin so it doesn’t accidently end up in our rotation. We’ve had plenty of chips, breaks, and flea bites over the years. Never had one crack like this. Reminds me of getting a chip that spidered in a windshield. No recent drop or anything that anyone recollects.
Is this a common break? Defect in the glass? Just weird?

Did you go from hot to cold or the reverse?
At some point it had a rapid temperature change. Sometimes the cracks don’t appear for awhile. Rarely it can take months or years.
Could be a nick that started by having a metal utensil scraping inside it.
I know when we were canning this fall we had a bad batch of jars that exploded in the canner. I think we had 4 explode out of 3 cases.
It got punched by something very tiny and very sharp. Probably a tiny super man.
It got whacked on a hard object or whacked with a hard object.
