Most ice creams have a stabilizer of some kind (various gums). These two were the only pints I could find with all-natural ingredients. I’m using that term loosely: I’m sure there is nothing wrong with gums but I wanted to find something with the same ingredients you would use at home.
Side-note: I was surprised that Graeter’s had additives.
My wife and I liked them both but we were unanimous in preferring the Homemade. That might be Cincinnati regional bias though. It was lighter and fluffier and just a tad icey. The Haagen-Dazs was thicker and creamier, which you would expect from the egg yolks. It was still great, but we both found ourselves gravitating to the Homemade.
Any other all-natural brands you would recommend?
