In this extra long episode we begin the big project of reconstruct the Sprayhood and Bimini frame and get new canvas, participate in sailing community activities, do the last sail of the year to Mar Menor and a 2 day roadtrip to show you and Bertil the amazing historical palace Alhambra and one of the biggest crystal caves in the world.

Sorry we did not had time to go trough, correct or translate the subtitle.

We are a middle aged couple that has left our hectic business lives to go sailing with our boat Fridá af Wisby and our cat Litza. Our goal is not to go to a specific place but to reach a state of mind where we can really enjoy life.

Anders has been at the sea most of his life and sailed for the Swedish national dingy sailing team as a young man. Gitte has also grown up with boats and spent every summer sailing with her father as a teenager but made a pause of about 15 years without sailing as an adult, had just begun to pick-up the interest before she meet Anders in 2017. Onboard we also have our cat Litza a 4 year old Devon Rex we call her the cattain because cats always decide over their humans.

Fridá af Wisby is a Wauquiez 47 pilot saloon that we Gitte and Anders bought in UK in 2019 and that we have sailed to Gotland and in season 1 2020 we sail in the Baltic Sea. During season 2 We sailded south to Dieppe Normandy France. After a winter in France in Season 3 we started to sail the Atlantic coast of Europe to Xufre in Spain where we lifted the boat over the summer while we where back in Gotland to work at our hostel we got there. Season 4 got a short sailing season where we only sailed to Lagos on the Algarve coast of Portugal where we hauled out once again this time to go throug a long list of boatwork and to build a solar arch to make the boat more self-suficient with electricity. After 6 months in Lagos we kicked-off season 5 with real bluewater sailing first to the northerly Atlantic island Porto Santo and Madeira and then further out to the Azores that lays in the middle of the Atlantic ocean before turning back towards the mainland and south coast of Portugal again.

This is the story following the log book of sailing fre in this episode a lot of things has happened we start over a big canvas project wow start with a Christmas party at the yakport CA and we go for the last sale of the year it’s a

Sword fish and it’s jumping before we make a long two-day road trip to alambra near Granada that Palace is amazing if you’re somewhere near you should try to get there it was very very impressive a cutie then we drive back to K this is what has happened our story began in

Yort on Isa white when we bought AI 47 pilot Saloon we named her Freda and vispy is her home port on gutland we are a middle-aged couple that left our business lives to go sailing we have sailed more than 7,000 naal miles along the Atlantic coast of Europe out to

Theur and into the Mediterranean Sea we will show you our sailing The Boat Works with do and the destinations we see experience wildlife historic sites and local cultures together with us we are not sponsored by anyone so it helps us a lot if you become a subscriber thumbs up

Or a comment makes us really happy big thank you to all of you that watch our videos we are Anderson Gita and this is our cat lza the next page continuing katena at the Marina’s yearly Christmas party the H is hosting a little Christmas party this event is not just

About good food and music it’s also a great opportunity to meet up with the fellow liver boards and the staff from the marina thank you so much yport K it’s a really Co event find something good on us [Applause] absolutely but we can’t have fun all the time juty call and Anders continue our sewing project Anders has made a little cap for our Anchorage there in the front it didn’t had one before I think it looks good good enough we also need to do some Christmas preparations I’m just started

To do some Swedish Peppa Cocker after my grandmother’s recipe And now I have finished with the door oh it’s exciting to see if it fits Anders has making made a new cover for our table and it was a little bit tight when we tested it before so either it fits or he has to redo most of it

Exciting it looks like it fits yes now you can finish it off made by an Experts of course it f and just want H fight about the table he was quicker than me hi here I sit in the cockpit and do Swedish gingerbreads we actually have some

Coffee before we bake the cakes how is your sewing going downstairs it’s getting there yeah still a few things to do try the first Christmas cake of the Year wow perfect really good look at this masterpiece and this is finally finished and it looks great let me tell you more about

What our canvas project is about we want to increase the Headroom at the companion way and forward visibility also want more wind protection easier entrance to the cockpit and create a full enclosure want air flow through the cockpit lots of light and visibility as well as shade I want several entrances

So I can run around when we are talking and and just want to see the sales now way of entrance yeah instead of going here going here grab there behind here so we like this and then you’re inside okay getting help from a local company called anha

Anel and works very iter and it’s a big project that took over a month we will have to come back many times to this project okay that we take some some videos yeah okay after we had explained our ideas and what we wanted Andel and his assistant started to do the

Measurements then they made a rough cut which they attached with a staple gun and made the more proper drawings of where everything should be my brother belel had just arrived to celebrate Christmas with us and we were all very curious to look at the work process after the rough cut they took everything

Back to the workshop to do the first sewing now they already back to try on exciting exciting AB It’s are you expecting everybody is checking including the Cat you can already see that the details and finish of the work looks good and L is very curious about her new sprayhood I think she had a hard time to keep up inspecting everything the weather was fantastic and we all got to eat and R took the opportunity to test our barbecue at the back of the boat after lunch the work continues because Anderson ble is building the frame for the bimin

Like musing to the work today I’m sitting here and uh we are going to reuse part of our old structure for the bimin or the new bimin so I’m cleaning those parts from R pretty good Music Trying to get the box off with heat brel are you putting our Bo Fire I work I don’t like the boo I make fire okay sh I especially in weekends there are live music at the rooftop restaurant next to the marina and today such a Day now we are at M bden to collect our Christmas food so this is a restaurant and Shop with Swedish Delicacies here in TOA they are packing our pre-ordered items now now we got back to the boat with lots of Swedish Christmas specialties and some other things that

Are hard to get we got some here as well especially we got a lot of Swedish KCK which we like to have we got the first H wow whatever you call it looks good yeah so this is how it’s going to be get inside no problem yep traditional Swedish

Christmas uh lunch table we got Christmas ham H some Swedish meat meatball Prince sausages red cabbage different kinds of herrings different kinds of uh uh red beetroot um more Herring um some eggs and and cold ham and um I don’t know what you call the sulta in in uh English and

Christmas cheese of course so now we can celebr Cate Christmas and we are going to eat in the cockpit because it’s actually nice and warm Outside Merry Christmas everyone from AA Anders give it a break no never it’s Christmas y Yeah okay it’s going to make it even better I think we should try anyway to move it from there to over there this further out a little bit I edged out we need to check that okay we’ll do after that afterwards [Applause] wow okay no look looks great and we

Will have lots of visibility and you can see through them a big difference compared to the old one transparent look this it’s going to be so great going to Mo move want this further down so it can be Tight Okay may I get some more C Cofe of course I need to wake Up here you can see the new construction for the boini so we have put a b here and there and there and on that side as well there can’t believe how much clear and how big they are going to be and how clear they are compared to the

Old spray wood I mean this will be that you have the same visibility as no spray Hood at all great and now they taking it down again they’re going to take it back through the workshop and uh do some finishing touches and then they will begin to do

The to B let’s have a break and go for a little dingy ride same problem that we had before that it doesn’t get a perfect connection and then the engine works well maybe not Perfect yeah it do works first 40 seconds was good he says yeah okay who said the first 40 seconds was bad and the rest is good go It’s first time for Basil with electric motor so that’s why the show Anda Ora we really do like our tquo electric output but you can always wish for a little little more oh a little bit more speed and a little longer range that would quiet for water is so clear we are at

Calatina where we have been snoring with Sara really nice Place You really enjoyed our afternoon in the thingy they have finished the spray Hood the way we want it and we got a handle here on the outside because we actually noticed is that it’s quite far to to walk here where you can’t grab anywhere so now you at least you have

Something to grab on to I think it’s going to look really nice and then they are going to make a new biny and some signs so we get a full enclosure sorry for my laundry it’s laundry day today and we have great visibility all around because that was

Problem with the old sprayhood that those sides here were closed uh with fabric so you couldn’t see anything through it and since our uh rooftop is so high we actually need to be able to see through it so this is going to be great looks Beautiful I’m done how And this is going to get a few more of this kind of connection points so we can add the structure we need a kind of bow or Arch um connecting this one with that one to keep keep the water flowing out to the side instead of sagging here in

The middle we are reusing some of the material we have here from from the old B Anders and Patrick continue the work of the construction of the new stainless Frame The weather was perfect for this kind of work no wind at all there was a little more wind the force cast for the next day off for a little uh what do you call it between Christmas and New New Year sale yeah the last sale of the year the last sale of

The year yeah so we are going to maror it’s about H 30 or milish so it looks going to be a nice little trip in light wind so we will have some wind and we have uh uh prepared the zaker so possibly we will get a janica sale round to

Be again we have been docked for too long don’t you think and that oh yes absolutely do long yeah we are taking my brother ready out for a sail he has visited us several times in the boat but we have never been out sailing

With her so we had to show him that she can actually sail and not she’s able to float yes already well at least he got to see her lightwind capacity oh good girl look how great this is this is why we want it so much Clear we can see all

The way that nothing is coming without leaving the cockpit without even putting our head out it’s so Great we are is going to assist him moting the janer and this is for all bat’s friend can you see he’s actually working he’s doing something and for the rest of you there I did my best to get some more wind but um you you made it I made lunch but still we were going into nuts and we are not in a hurry but uh there is a bridge that we need to pass and it opens every second hour so we need to be there

Either 4 or 6:00 and 6 is the last bridge opening during winter time Anders what are we doing now I’m not that’s quite okay that’s okay as you can see we had an extremely relaxed and calm sailing but then it’s a swordfish and it’s jumping wow amazing it’s really showing

Off we have no idea why it jumps like this but we have seen it one more time at more or less the same place do you know why it does it please write a comment down below that was cool to see just as quickly as it began it

Stopped and everything went back to the Palmer relaxed sailing we had before I just checking the solar panels they’re doing around uh 500 wats so there’s little bit less than half of full capacity and it’s a perfect day but the sun is really low on the horizon so

Yeah and it’s a couple of days before New Year’s yeah as as low as it can be down here Yeah a little teaching in how to use the pl and now we can See we are discussing the chairs they are really good and makes it a lot more comfortable you to the light wind and that we didn’t want to start the engine well we missed the 4:00 opening so it was almost Sunset when we arrived but we managed to chime it with the last Bridge Opening it was beautiful to sail through the canal of the entrance into maror in the Sunset going into marar leaving Mediterranean behind Us going into the Lagoon called Fore beautiful entrance passing the Bridge oh well now we are on the Marino Side S said it’s the 29th of December and we’re not even wearing thick jackets and we’re going in when the sunsets it’s a little bit chilly but uh not cold as a Scandinavian sailor that is pretty amazing and so is the view of this Entrance but despite the beauty of the sunset we were beginning to get a bit worried and stressed because we still had a couple of miles to go to our Anchorage we are on the inside of SM Manor will we manage to get there before it gets dark that’s the question Anders

And I don’t have a lot of anchoring experience so we very much prefer to do it in Daylight there sun has gone down so we hope to get to Dage before it gets completely dark we are almost there but it’s getting dark quickly now unfortunately we didn’t make made it so we have to Anchor in complete darkness backing on the Anchor is in front of the ding a so don’t see him but he’s checking just C right then we have arrived and then it’s time for me to make some food cuzz it’s getting late managed to get an to set and we had a beautiful evening with moonlight and the

City Lights All Around marar was also amazing to see breakfast in the cockpit the day before New Year’s Eve on maror the morning Is bring our Anor and is in front and I will try to take the wheel that was time really come today it’s been a lovely night here so nice little Anchorage we had it all through ourselves the island is private and you are not allowed to enter it and uh

Especially not walk to your dogs and they kind uh signs about every 100 meters telling you that after a lovely morning waking up in the Dan Bridge it was a bit of time pressure again but this time to make the bridge opening to get Out they will open the bridge in 5 Minutes ala you took my Chair both sides we have a marinas but we made it in time with a couple of minutes to spare M and is Europe’s biggest saltwater Lagoon unfortunately it has been heavily polluted the last four decades which has pushed in D species to or near extin mainly due to the use of

Fertilizers in agriculture but a program to clean it up has started so now we are going out of maror and into the Mediterranean Sea and I think you can see on the water that the is then the two Seas is meeting here you can see it on the water That gets Disturbed now the motorboat ruined all the but you can see it before the wake arrived so now we are passing through the bridge which was a bit important that we managed because they open every second hour for 15 minutes and that’s it now we are clear off the

Bridge and uh can take our time to get back to K it’s going to be nice weather but very light wind and we will also have quite a lot of up wind so I expect there will be some motoring but since now we are going back

And we don’t have the time limit with the bridge the only thing that hinder us is actually that we prefer to go into an Marina in daylight but now we familiar with kataa so that’s not that important either oh we have buttons SP it is Electric I think L is satisfied with her breakfast view oh that’s we gave up so we the despite the motoring we enjoy the sunny day back to C on the way we continue this the design of our new P mini construction oh prise okay we are approaching C and we are

Going to back into our flip because we need to do some work at the tip of our solar Arch which we can’t reach so we think if we back in we can reach it from the dock so that’s why we are docking a little bit different than usual we are back in

Caana and uh in our sleep but the other way around happy New Year New Year’s Eve and Anders is still working but he claims that he will soon be finished well this is our new New Year steaks and fr is the barbecue master of tonight sleep before

After dinner we went up to the Sailing Community party to celebrate the rest of the evening and watch the fireworks of course wow a nice way to celebrate the new year just a few days later our canvas project contined now there trying out the first

Section of the b or the front section of the B we think that angless way to use the staple gun was a smart way to get a proper stretch and fit to the canvas it also helped us to get a feeling for how the end result was going to be

We locked up the boat because we are actually leaving but L is staying to ensure everything is all right and uh we will come back tomorrow Evening so we are going to leave fra uh today and have a hotel stay tonight in Pino Gil I think it was uh very close to Granada so we’re going on an Excursion to alra and then up in the mountains to this hotel and uh then we

Will look at SAR Nevada and drive uh I think we will drive the way V moril and Al Mar uh to yor Puli where there is a big Crystal Cave that we have been at once before but that we couldn’t access because we haven’t booked tickets but

This time we have tickets so I hope everything will be all right this time so two days car Ride it is 3 hours car ride from Kena to alambra we have driven to the Historic Site alambra in near Granada in Andalusia Fortress and even more the palace stands as a Testament to centuries of History it is truly a Marvel of architecture and craftsmanship its story began in the mid 13 century

When the N Dynasty took out the ambitious task of constructing the palace the buildings are very well preserved and extremely stunningly beautiful just as the view over the city of Granada and the mountains of Sierra Nevada look at the details of this amazing pattern cared out of the stone

Wall even the decoration of the ceiling is intricate imagine how much work it must have been to create this with the tools of the Time amazing this Courtyard is built so there will always be a perfect reflection of the building in look at this woodwork This whole place is like this you can see they have painted in the little space in between here red and yellow blue and green it’s so amazing all this yeah and here you can see red and some other color red black it’s just amazing it’s

All the way up and all the way around this Palace is incredible and uh I can imagine that when it was active it was very very impressive it’s still very very impressive also it’s beautiful tile patterns similar to in this one or next to this is much much older and also Bigger this is the ceiling samples of the different patterns you see on the walls here you can see more of the paint in the pattle see it’s the blue and the Red it is almost overwhelming to walk around here here place you think you have seen the most amazing and then you get to a new One deoration on door here you can see end one there is it too such a work to create all This Amazing okay next room my camera can’t do this Justice but this is a ceiling and it’s Incredible the palace is also full of little Gardens and Courtyards like this one All you have to do is whisper and you can hear it from the different Corners we are now up at the top of the Fortress part and it’s amazing view got a good picture of you here with the snow capap mountain in the background from SI

Nevada We retired after a long day so we drove back to the hotel and had a quiet evening the next day we drove up to Sierra Nevada what this 30 40 m we are now 2,500 m above sea level not so much now but it is snow this time last time when

Anderson here I was here there was no snow at all but it was rainy and very windy so I think it was even colder Nevada in Spain it means actually the snowy mountains and right now you can see it makes the name but uh I think our guy with skis

Over there has a long walk fresh air and not very cold on the way down we stopped the car so I could film The Wild Horses they are the Wild Horses it’s been difficult to find facts about them apparently the breed is Serano and it was near

Liping now we got a close view of the horses they’re right in front of us on the road but there has been a breeding program and they are now released both in Spain and Portugal by an organization called reving Europe the purpose is to increase biodiversity I don’t think they

Find grass on the road but I probably find Salt and perhaps other minerals they need it was really fun to see them so close so cute we continue to our marar by the coast here they grow Europe’s vegetables tomatoes and cucumbers miles after miles of those

Green houses first time time Alice and I was here we were looking at the boat and we had a marvelous salad so let’s have one more we are sitting in Al Mar this is a very popular winter Marina of liard great to we are now driven up to the G py was

Actually not allowed to take photos or film inside the cave but I sneaked a little bit in we all an English tour but we got an audio guide uh that was our only option not very good The Guild in P is one of the largest in the world it measures 8 by

1.8 m it is located about 50 m underground in an old mine and it was uh found by accident by a group of geologists from Madrid in 1999 hi we have now been on a tour on thei and it’s one of the biggest caves where the crystals are very big as you

Can see there’s a person sitting there and we could climb into it uh we were not allowed to be at this spot we were allowed to climb in and have all the crystals around uh but it was very very TR qu amazing to see but the tour in general

Ah a little bit it’s like that because it was all in Spanish we had other guys in English which were how to follow the numberings were not very clear and they didn’t say half of the things that the guide said so but it’s been fun to be here but um well an

English guide would have been much better that was the last up on this road trip so we drove back to Frida uh so pel could pack because it was time for him to go home in the next episode we will continue with more projects and more family visits you also get to experience

The man Sant before we start sailing again thank you so much for watching this extra long episode all the way to the end we hope you enjoy the video and remember thumbs up to makes us happy see you
