It’s cold here in Georgia and wanted to try out one of the tried and true comfort meals that sticks to your ribs, Hamburger Stroganoff. I found this recipe in a book entitled “My Recipe Collection”. This book is full of hand written recipes so I figure they gotta be good if someone took their time and write them out. I made the recipe as written but I did sauté fresh mushrooms instead of canned and I used 2 pounds of ground beef. Do not leave out the ketchup, it works in this recipe. This turned out phenomenal the whole family enjoyed it. My daughter said it was bussin so I’m assuming she really liked it. I served it over egg noodles with a side of sweet corn.

Love stroganoff! I’ll be adding Worchestershire to my next batch. I’ve never thought of adding it.
Edited to add: I always use ketchup!

Never thought to use ketchup in stroganoff. I have always added worchestershire sauce though.

Beef stroganoff is my best go to recipe! It’s one of the few dishes my mother did well. I jazz it up using beef tips coated in flour and sautéd. I add portobello mushrooms and onions as I go. It still needs cream of mushroom soup, though, and a cup of sour cream and a cup of grated cheddar cheese. Served over egg noodles.
