Has anyone ever seen this with their All American? As its coming up to temp, it sounds like there is a tiny leak or something releasing pressure. It’s still coming up ok, but wondering what could cause it and what the remedies might be…

  1. I don’t have an All American but you can kinda see a bit of steam coming out right when you hear the sound (especially at the very end).

Could it be that there is an issue with the thread the pressure gauge is? (can you remove that, and re-attach?)

Did you exhaust it before adding the weight? When canning you load the canner, attach the lid and clamp it down.

Then allow steam to vent out that weight stem for 7 minutes (per my 921 instruction manual, last I checked). Then put the wight on.

But that sound is not an uncommon one if it hasn’t completely exhausted, I hear it now and then.

I have two 921s, one over 40 years old, one that is now a year old.

Edit PS, it also often hisses before jiggling.

Yeah. It never affected it getting to pressure, so I never worried too much about it. Does it on both mine.
