Coming from MN, Texas BBQ is like major leagues and MN BBQ is A or AA baseball. The quality across the board is just so much better, and then you have the extras that seal the deal. The sauces are better. The sides are better. The fixings are better, hell, you hardly even get bread/fixings unless you pay extra up here. The sweet tea is better.

    1. Blanco BBQ, $34 (with a military discount) for one ribs/brisket platter and one 1/3lb brisket platter, and fountain drinks. One thing I love about them is that they have an open fixings bar. A bit less expensive than other places, but still good stuff.

    2. Pinkertons, $63 for 1-1/2lbs pork ribs, 1/2lb brisket (I think they may have tossed some extra on?), small coleslaw, medium potato salad, medium jambalaya, and bread pudding. Worth every penny and then some. We could (should?) have gone a little easy on the amount of food though.

    3. 2M Smokehouse, $45 for 1-1/2lbs pork ribs, small coleslaw, and small elotes. Again, worth every penny.

    4. Buc-cees, because why the hell not? I think it was like $12 for the XL chopped brisket sandwich. Would do it again.

  2. buccees brisket sandwich fuckin slaps and anyone who says otherwise is a dolt.

oh yeah that other stuff is nice, but nothing beats a buccees brisket taco or sandwich after 12 hours on the road.

BBQ weekend trip to the gas station, where the mascot is a beaver in a trucker hat.

This is what California is losing to?!?!?!?! A f*cking hill jack gas station!
