Okay guys, welcome back to the channel. So we’re going to start this recipe off by chopping up our onion. For this recipe, you don’t have to dice it, just give it a good chop. We’re going to chop up some red bell pepper. Because the bell peppers are going to be more for the

Texture of our collard greens. We’re going to do the same for our green bell pepper. And last, we’re going to mince up some garlic. Okay, so now that the vegetables are all cut up, we’re going to add some butter to our pot.

Okay, so now that we have the butter all nice and melted in our pot, let’s add in those delicious chopped vegetables. So, we’re just going to let these cook for a few minutes. We’re not trying to sauté them that much. Okay, so now that our vegetables have cooked down a little bit,

We’re going to add in around 2 tablespoons of some venison bouillon. Chicken base. And we’re just going to stir this up so all the flavors can start incorporating together. Okay, next I’m going to drop in my minced garlic. I’m just going to stir that up until that garlic gets nice and flavorful.

Tell you guys, when you build a recipe, especially collard greens, you want to make sure that you build your flavor from the base up. Okay, the seasonings are going to be the last thing that I add to this recipe. But this right here is the base of my recipe.

And this, the flavors are already going to be smacking. Because one thing about it, you do not want to be taking or preparing a pot of greens for your big mama, for your family members, and they’re, they’re flavorless. Bland. Nothing to it. So, start from the base. Build those flavors up.

Okay, so now that everything is in the pot, I’m going to add some smoked turkey wings to the mix. Now, you definitely want some kind of smoked meat to go into your greens. Okay, now once we have our smoked meat in the pot, we’re going to add around 8 cups of chicken broth.

Okay guys, so now what we’re going to do, we’re going to cover it and we’re going to let it just boil for about 30 35 minutes. Just so all those flavors can start building up and that meat can start breaking down a little bit and getting tender.

But while that’s happening, let’s go clean and chop up our collard greens. Okay, so to get started with these collard greens, what I like to do first is separate the leaf from the stem. So I’m just going to take my knife and cut along the stem.

Of the collard green, and just remove it like so. And I’m going to grab me another leaf, go along the stem of the collard green, and just remove the stem. I’m going to put these two together. I’m going to roll them up, like so.

And we’re just going to give these collard greens about half inch chop. That’s all you have to do guys. That’s it. Some people, some people like to leave the stems on the greens and just cut them up and cook them as is. Which is perfectly fine.

Alright, so once you get all the collard green leaves cut up, we’re going to have to go to the sink and give them a good wash. To get all those chemicals and stuff off of the collard greens because you do not want to be eating the stuff that they put on these

Collard greens to keep them fresh. Fresh to keep the bugs off of them that it’d be it gets gritty. You don’t want that. So let’s go to the sink and Wash them up. So what you want to do is add your greens to a sink or a little bowl.

Add a little bit of vinegar. And you want to pour yourself some salt over your greens, and we’re just going to give us a good wash. Drain off some. We’ll transfer it over to a clean bowl, and we’re going to repeat this process until the water runs clear.

Which may be, which may be about four or five times. Okay, so now that the greens are all chopped up and washed, we have our smoked meat that’s been boiling for around 30 35 minutes. And so now I’m going to add some greens to the pot.

And as you can see, the pot that I’m using, it’s not a very big pot. So, what I’m going to do, I’m going to add as much as I can and let it cook down. And then I’m going to add the rest of my greens to the pot. Okay, wait a minute, guys.

I might be able to fit all of these in here. Let’s see. Let’s see what, let’s see, let’s see. I think we just might be able to get them all in here. Okay, guys. So, I don’t have to put another batch in here.

Now, if you’re cooking a lot of collard greens and you don’t have that huge pot to put all of it in one pot, like I said before, just do them in batches. Pull them in, let them cook down, and then add the rest of your greens and let those cook down.

There you go, but this is just right. Okay, so I’m going to put the top on this like that. And I’m going to let these greens just cook until they cook down. And then we’re going to start adding the seasonings.

Okay, so now that my smoked meat has become nice and tender, as you can see, I can just pull the meat apart now. So that’s what I’m going to do, is just pull the meat apart. Now guys, this is hot. You know, I haven’t let it cool down or anything like that.

But these are heat resistant gloves. So, um, I would highly suggest that you let your meat cool off for a little bit. Or use some, um, forks. There’s something to debone the meat off your smoked meat. I’m going to start breaking the meat apart.

You can also use a knife to chop it up. Okay guys, so now that I have my meat broken up, now it’s time to add it back to my greens. As you can see, my greens have cooked down nicely. So let’s add that back to the pot. Stir that in.

And now, also guys, we can start adding the seasonings to our greens. Add a little bit of apple cider vinegar. Some Worcestershire sauce. We’re going to add some smoked paprika. Some onion powder. Some garlic powder. We’re going to add some pepper. A little salt.

Some red pepper flakes for a little bit of kick. Okay, we’re going to add some liquid smoke. Just a little bit. And to balance everything out, I’m going to add a little bit of brown sugar. I’m going to stir all of this up. Uh oh.

Okay, so now that everything is inside the pot, the seasonings, the meat, the greens have cooked down wonderfully, I’m going to cover it up and I’m going to let it cook for about another 30 minutes and these babies are going to be finished and delicious. Okay guys, you’ll see it.

You see these delicious collard greens? Let’s go to make your big mama proud. And I already know the flavor is going to be thick. But just to make sure, let’s put some in a bowl and taste it. Oh, the money. Guys, these greens, the flavor from the smoked meat, the seasonings is

All blended together wonderfully. And I’m not going to keep you any longer because I finished the dough. finish off this bowl. And if you like today’s video, how about you checked out this homemade lasagna recipe that I have right here. That right there is off the chain.
