    Beauty & Essex – on a Saturday at 9:30pm

all of Lincoln square has very mediocre, overpriced restaurants.

  3. Electrosnack

Tao or any restaurant under the Tao Restaurant Hospitality group umbrella.

And also Poco, on Ave. B and E. 3rd St., especially at brunch. The diners there are just a bunch of super-loud, obnoxious drunk Gen Z’ers.

Edited to change “lunch” to “brunch”

Two Hands in Williamsburg. They also have default tip set to 30%.

  5. Objective_Benefit145

not mildly but wildly expensive: eleven madison

Ophelia Lounge for brunch. Nothing is fresh. I was burping all day afterwards. Totally overpriced and misleading pricing on top of that. They have a 2 hour limit. Not even the drinks are good. They’re out of half of the items on the menu. But nice views.

Any of the stalls at the Underground Market at Columbus Circle.

Hags. I will tell the tale of that terrible, overpriced meal for the rest of my life. $500 for some undercooked, root vegetables.

Not sure what the price range is, but I heard Rolf’s is just absolutely terrible, defaulted tip, and it attracts a lot of tourists because of the decked out inside, esp during the holidays.

Sant Ambroeus in soho. Highly recommend starting with the shrimp cocktail. It’s 4 tepid popcorn shrimp, dropped in some pink mayonnaise, priced at $37. The pale soggy-skinned, farm-raised “salmone” is also a steal for $48.

The Sugar Factory near lincoln center. absolute fucking abomination of an establishment. its friendlys but twice the price.

I want to answer this question with the presumption the person has some idea of the food scene in that if you look up salt bae’s place or bad Roman, immediately you see a bunch of people clowning it like even outside of just google reviews and stuff. So I basically don’t disagree with what anyone has said. But I’d also throw out Tio Pepe, just a really shit tapas place on the border of Greenwich and west village that is quite expensive. I tried about 6 different things and not one was good. The chorizo was edible, and the anchovies were at least technically anchovies. But they weren’t tasty and if I wasn’t obsessed with anchovies, it would’ve been terrible. But if someone looks up this place, there’s a reasonable chance they’ll think you actually are leasing them to a great place bc of its location and vibe of being an undiscovered gem. The reason it is undiscovered is it’s bad. That’s why you can get a spot on a Friday night for 6 people without a res. And best part, it’s tapas so they’ll feel sort of compelled to order a bunch and at each juncture, they’ll be disappointed. Their sangria is actually very good rhough.

Peter Lugers and i’ve felt that before the michelin demotion. seriously fuck that place.

Ainsley in Brooklyn. That place is all vibes and no flavor.

  15. The Dutch. Only ate there because it was company provided. Two of us got food poisoning and then spent the rest of the work day in the toilets. Good times.

I went to Cipriani on West Broadway cause it’s across from the WeWork office we rent. The last page of the menu looks like the worksheet handout from 3rd grade that got copied from a copy for 30 years.

Wildly expensive, food is good food, but not worth $40 for an app, service is oppressive and uncomfortable (imho).

  17. PolarisSONE

EN Japanese Brasserie. I literally nearly puked with their uni clay pot rice.

  18. Independent-Ship-830

Arthur & Sons. Perhaps this is so blatantly obvious that no one has said it before. Expensive, most overrated Italian food you can find in the city.

  19. campusdirector

Catch. Overpriced, mediocre, and the clientele is comprised of douchebags in their 30s and teenage girls out for their birthdays.

Mr Chow in Tribeca. I cannot say enough bad things. How the hell do you do Chinese food that poorly? And for that much money!?
