A few months ago I was determined to make my own tortillas for tacos, so I purchased a 2KG of Maseca and I have perfected my craft: I love making tortillas and then assemble tacos.

I want to *graduate* to better Masa, I came across Masienda (https://i.imgur.com/FdEs4lR.png), these are my questions:

1. Is there a store in NYC that sells Masienda? I searched it on Google and Instacart with no luck. Manhattan or Brooklyn preferred, but I would make a trip to anywhere in NYC since I will be curious to browse what else they have. Otherwise I would just order it online.
2. Is there a better brand? Which one(s)?
3. Should I go with Masienda or other brand or just get fresh one as discussed here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Brooklyn/comments/rs00fr/where_to_buy_fresh_masa/ ?

TIA.

Alot of Whole Foods stores stock it. You can also get it delivered straight from Masienda by ordering on their website.

It’s the best I’ve found personally. I also bought their Doña Rosa Tortilla Press, which is by far the best I’ve ever used.

  2. Not any help for you but if you feel like any sharing any tortilla making tips I’d love some! I got a press for Christmas. My first attempt wasn’t great.

For All Things Good in Bed-Stuy sells their own masa that is made with their own in-house nixtamalized corn. You can buy it in five pound blobs. But it’s wet masa dough, not masa flour. It tastes fantastic.

I was really hoping that the new Wegmans in Manhattan would have some nice masa, but they don’t seem to 😕
