I’ve lived here my whole life and I’ve never been there, or if I have I was too young to remember it.
I’ve gotta try it. It seems like the only super hyped up place that consistently lives up to the hype.

I’ll have whatever she’s having.

Is Katz really worth it? We‘re in NewYork for a week in a few months but heard that you have to wait really really long at Katz
Express-Signature-46
Also go next door to Yonah Schimmel for amazing knish and Russ and Daughters- one block 3 meals that can keep you full for days.
the6thReplicant
I remember how good the bread was.

Looks a bit thin.

Can never go wrong with Katz.
Personally I like Dave’s brisket house near Fulton more but marginally more. I would highly recommend checking it out too.
die-microcrap-die
I went there twice. First time in 89 and then in 2001.
Let me tell you, this photo looks like they are now serving a quarter of the meat they used to.
How much its that now?
RanOutofCookies
Is it the angle or does that sandwich look smaller than what they used to serve?
Ok_Bake3729
Agreed!!! Still dreaming of that pastrami on rye 😍🤤

I hate overhyped, overpriced stuff, but begrungingly, Katz is the best pastrami in NYC and I’ve tried them all – 2nd Ave Deli, Pastrami Queen, David’s, etc… beware of long lines on weekends. pro-tip: go for breakfast !

Best pastrami in the city. The price is the price, it’s good, there’s a lot of it and everything is through the roof anyway. Enjoy
Nestman12
Wow thats so much smaller than it used to be. Thats like a bag of chips filled mostly with air, if chips were 35$
daemonw9
Best pastrami ever, full stop. Mediocre at best bread
laughingwalls
I generally hate pastrami and even I like their sandwiches. Which probably means that mosat of the pastrami I’ve had in life wasn’t anywhere near quality.
I don’t think the price is a shock. Those sandwiches are large enough to be 2 meals for even me and I weigh over 200 pounds. The price is fair. Like I am deeply impressed when I see people actually eating those things like a sandwich. They have at least 1 pound of pastrami, probably more.
Unknownchill
don’t know if it was just me but i got the pastrami reuben and the pastrami i got was not the best. Chewy, undercooked, not tender. I know I got a bad cut because the sample he gave me was amazing. Kind if felt ripped off for $30+ dollars damn.
Johnnadawearsglasses
It’s still good. Their brisket is what I usually get. The dogs and knoblewurst are also awesome.

Old-Scene2963
And the price!
Rich-Appearance-7145
Of course it did those Pastrami sandwich ‘s are amazing, Im from the West Coast, a native NY bragged so much about Katz I litterly made it my first meal destination, was not disappointed. All that and a bag of chips.
DocAuch22
I don’t care how touristy it is, every time I’m in New York I HAVE to get a pastrami from there.
wontoofreefore
In 2012 or so, my college roommate and I, both drunk, split one of those, and neither of us finished because each half was immense. I was in no way a small man, and neither was he.
I think I could eat that whole sandwich.
ooahpieceofcandy
How much was that? $30 now?
TimelessJo
It is really worth it to go to Mill Basin Deli. Better food, cheaper, and no waits.
Also not accessible by subway but still
ilove60sstuff
I miss carnagie deli 😔it still hurts
wasxbi
it’s soooo good especially when you have one after drinking all night
acanthocephalic
Call me a heretic but I prefer to get the pastrami on the hero bread instead of rye.
Go ahead and downvote, I like what I like.
BuddyLoveGoCoconuts
I can’t wait to go here!!!
0hmyscience
I was there today for lunch too. Hadn’t been in over 5 years. It was everything I remembered it to be. Ate just the pastrami on rye plus the pickles. Still full.
hghammer7
It’s still great food the price is just high.

1) Portion seems small 2) THEY SHOULD TOAST THE BREAD! 3) Pastrami is better when sliced thin
Hot_lady577
A friend brought me here when i visited her and this is absolutely true!

2nd ave and sarges on lex are good

$30 sandwich
MyRedLips_Pittsburgh
I’m going Monday can’t wait 😋
Embarrassed_Draft968
What time did you go? Doesn’t look crowded like always lol.
terradaktul
Maybe I went on a bad day, but I felt the opposite. A $30, one ingredient sandwich on stale rye is not my thing at all. To add insult to injury, I was still hungry when I was finished.
