First night dinner at Le Bernardin 6/10, second day lunch at Keens 7/10, second day dinner at Eleven Madison Park 1.5/10, third day dinner at Masa (no pictures allowed in restaurant) 5/10.
I thought Le Bernardin is very overrated, everything just had this same salty cream reduction sauce. There was also a small piece of plastic in one of the dishes.
Eleven Madison Park was a bizarre experience, it felt like Emperors new clothes. There was not one good dish and everything was extremely salty and overseasoned. How this place even has one star with their vegan menu is questionable.
Masa was one of the worst cost to performance ratio restaurants I’ve ever been to. For 950 usd to sit at the counter, the food was inferior to many high end sushiyas in Japan charging 1/4 of the price.
Keens was just okay, I didn’t their mutton chop was anything to write home about.

Haha were you deliberately trying to hit all the overpriced stars on an expense account or something?
Japan has great sushi at a lot of price points, how would you compare Masa’s food to other NYC sushi places? I’ve been to many but have never sprung for Masa yet. My favs are Yoshino at the $500 tier and Omakase Room by Mitsu at the $250 tier, I don’t expect Masa to be 2X and 4X better respectively, but I wonder how the food would rank independent of price…
Eleven madison was amazing when we had the regular menu.
I just saw your 72 hours in NYC this year post, so you had much better time this year than last year. Do you have similar visits in previous years?
Wow, you put all those played together and you got yourself a whole meal!
I’ve always said that NY’s 3* experience pales in comparison to other major cities. They’re all incredibly dull and uninventive. It honestly feels like they’ve gotten comfortable so they no longer try. I suggest Atomix if you make a return trip.
edit
I see you went this year already lol
I think it’s really funny to see where people go when they visit here….so many of these posts are places I’ve either never heard of or would never go after living here for nearly a decade lol.
i’ve never understood you all’s (foodies) fascination with EMP. It’s like the chef has a smoking habit and uses too much salt in everything because he can’t taste the food. This was true before they went vegan as well.
Food in nyc is overrated, maybe if we start calling it out people will improve ? Nah let’s pay those stupid prices for mediocre food
is that first pic an oreo soaked in oil
Whaaaaack, not a single slice, not a single halal meal from a food truck at 3 am
I’m estimating $2.5K?
One thing I’ve learned about NYC restaurants is that you have to go to newly opened places (when the energy & effort are still high) or Michelin spots that are 4.5/4.6+ at least on Yelp. For how pretentious Yelp has always been, it has generally never let me down.
Masa has a mutton chop??
The best of nyc is definitely not in Manhattan, next time you come try all the different cuisines. great caribbean, spanish, and middle eastern food. You could get great food for under 50-30 a person.
Queens,bk and bx is where the gems are.
Love eating in NYC, bummer the meals were poor cost-to-value. Next time you’re back, you should explore the 1 and 2 stars.
Aska, Aquavit, Atomix, Jungsik have all been great times and less formality.
People who think fine dining means good food are so brain dead. You’re going so you can post on your social media and get clout…not for good food
Highly regarded of you
I’m so glad I’m not the only one that though le bernadin was meh.
Steak looks good
Got triggered by your post because it reminded me of when I was served a whole baked zucchini as my entree at EMP
950$ for that shit? Could never be me, even if I had the money, respectfully.
