A little old friend made a bunch of beach plum jam this past December and gifted me a few. Just pulled this one out of the cupboard and noticed this on top. Is it just normal sugars/fruit or mold? Looking at the sides, the jam underneath is still solid color. I’ve never made jam/canned anything myself so I’m not familiar with this. The top was sealed and I had to pop it off if.

If the seal was good it is most likely fine. Looks like some froth.
They appear to be tartaric acid crystals, if so they’re harmless
What is beach plum???
to me it looks like they didn’t remove all the foam before canning it and we’re seeing left over burst foam bubbles?
Looks fine just the froth from cooking. …… just wanted to say ….. make Shure she gets her jar back….. always a fun way to encourage more gifting …..I even seem to be the recipient of orphan jars from people who know we can
