I bought the jar and lid from Goodwill. Just don’t have any experience doing this

Are you trying to make refrigerator pickles or canned pickles? If you’re doing refrigerator pickles then the lid is definitely fine after a quick wash. If you’re doing canned pickles you want a new lid each time you process it and since you don’t know the history of this lid it would be best to buy a new one. The ring can be used unless it’s rusty or otherwise corroded but the flat part of the lid with the red sealing compound needs to be replaced each time.
