This Chow Chow was homemade and the Pickled Quail Eggs are made by a local company. A minute in the microwave with some leftover rice and a handful of cherry tomatoes made for a delicious, quick midday snack when I was caught unprepared.
This Chow Chow was homemade by my Wife’s Cousin with their Yooper Great Grandmother’s Recipe. This is my favorite recipe to can at home. Anyone else make something like this?
My Wife grew up in the middle of the Keweenaw Peninsula which is in the Northwestern Upper Peninsula of Michigan; by all accounts the finest of Michigans two Pleasant Peninsulas, in the Northern Midwest USA.
I don’t remember the origins of Chow Chow but this region has a lot of Finnish culture and my local Pasty Dealer sells a good local commercial Chow Chow which I give 3 stars. Best paired with pork Pie, in my humble opinion.
Cheers! Eh!
