  2. Love you, have that little iron skillet, never really used it. Maybe I will now, not used to using self rising anything. You can tell I’m not from the south. Such fun!

  3. Girlllll….my daddy loved this w milk when he was living !!!! He would have our momma to whip him up some fresh corn bread at night to have w milk for a snack….lol Yes !! Listen….my family used the yellow corn meal. 🌽 Do they make that one anymore ? NOTHING beats that real cast iron either !

  5. I can tell it's good ol' southern cornbread, because there's not a lick of sugar in it! I love your cast iron skillet, and I really enjoy your videos!

  6. "Enough milk." That's when I knew you were my kind of people. πŸ˜‚ And not a bit of sugar, as God intended.πŸ™Œ

  7. I love fritters so good with beans and a good ole slice of onion and a glass of sweet tea that's a meal in itself for me

  8. I make my cornbread the same way as you. The only thing I have started doing differently is using lard instead of oil or sometimes I might use bacon grease. It’s a long story about switching away from oil, I’ll tell yah sometime tho. I also have been heating up my pan on the stove top, idk why I started doing that exactly I just did. πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ I have been enjoying your videos!

  9. Nothing like good ole cornbread, the more different ways, the better. You go Frugal🌹🌹Thank you

  10. Oh my, cornbread, some butter spread, sliced sweet onion, and glass of unsweetened iced tea makes an awesome supper just by itself

  11. I must of missed it in video, but how long do you cook cornbread, I have a larger cast iron so will double it as you said, but have no idea what time to start with. Help!!

  13. I am from south Georgia & I like to make my cornbread the same way you do but as for add ins I like to add 1/4 cup grated cheddar cheese & 1/2 full size can of cream corn or a whole can of the small size of cream corn.
As for fritters we like to mix plain corn meal (Arnetts or Dixie corn meal), salt, & water to form a batter. Those Cornmeals are similar to the Mesa Hispanic people use to make corn tortillas only ground to a larger consistency. Then fried the same way you fry your fritters. If you my daughter likes for me to thin the batter to a thinner batter & then fry them. The spider out to a crisper batter. It's like eating a piece of cornbread that's all edge pieces. Crispy & crunchy the whole piece. Yum! It's great with turnip greens & bacon.

  14. Hi Brooke Your cornbread looks good! I am from Louisiana we call the cornbread pancake a hoecake or Johnny cake that you refer to as a fritter. If you look up the history of the hoecake it originally was cooked on a garden hoe outside on an open fire. Thanks for sharing your recipes! Nellie

  15. Lol I swear my momma taught you how to cook. A lot of the stuff you cook is the same as she taught me

  16. How do you recommend seasoning your iron skillet? I love your videos! I make a grocery list of the items you use while watching your videos for future use! ❀

  17. I made a small batch of fried green tomatoes for my son and I had some egg and flour with seasoning left over so I mixed it together and fried it. I called it fry bread my son loved it and keeps asking me to make it again. I fry it in olive oil.
