Hi all,
I ordered 12 Ball Quart jars from Amazon, specifically because in the attached picture, they had a 2 piece lid.
They've arrived just now, with one piece lids!
Can I even use the lids? Shouldn't this reputable manufacturer know better?!
What do you think?
(I do have some tattler lids I could substitute, but I've never used them before, so was a bit nervous to try).

For water bath, steam, or pressure canning? No.
You can keep them around for when you want to use your jars to store dry goods though.
Amazon is 100% buyer beware, its full of sellers that use misleading pictures to sucker you into buying garbage. I highly doubt Moremiximixi is selling you authentic Ball jars.
Ball sells one piece decorative lids that they specifically state are not safe for canning, but your picture doesn’t show the same one piece lid as Balls website. I wouldn’t blame getting the wrong product on Ball, I’d blame it on Amazon. Buy your jars from a reputable retail store.
It looks to me like an inaccurate Amazon listing, where the photo didn’t represent the product they had in stock. With Amazon in particular it happens all too often. Are the jars they sent you even the Ball brand? I can’t tell from the first photo.
I don’t even think there are Ball jars much less Ball lids…
Here is an article explaining why one-piece lids are seen as unsafe:

As for Ball lids, they *do* offer lids like this but it is clear they are not for canning use. I think it would be for dry goods or to swap out once you have popped open a sealed two-piece lid and you want a new lid for that jar of jam in the fridge.
Be wary of Amazon sellers, and even blogs, FB groups, YouTube and Pinterest sites as they play fast and loose with canning safety protocols, from ingredients to method.
Unfortunately, the product description does say that you would get “screw top airtight lids,” not two piece lids. Looks like you got what you ordered. They won’t work for canning. I have lids like this that I use when I open a jar that I preserved using a two piece lid. Much more pleasant than dealing with lids and rings.
I would report it as fraud to both Amazon and Ball. They are showing a picture of Ball products which is not what they are selling (notice the lack of Ball brand in the description)
I wouldn’t expect the item to get taken down though- I reported something similar and it stayed up for a long time. But you should absolutely get a refunds.
Are those jars even safe in a canner with real lid?
