When I go to my local co-op, I refer to that basket as “the island of misfit cheese”. It’s my favorite spot in the store.

We used to call them “tidbits” in my shop. Always had some great deals in that little basket.

I just call it the cheese bucket 🤷🏼‍♀️

I love these little ends of cheese. Great way to try some new kinds or just snack on for the trip home.

Oh dang, baby basket is way better than what our store called them… orphans.

Best cheese fondue I ever made was from “cheese ends” – that’s what my local market calls them. I can be super lazy at times, and I would just grab a handful of assorted cheese ends and throw in the microwave with some white wine and stir. Talk about lazy. Anyhow, it was always 10/10

I always wondered why they were less expensive. LOL

I would love to do this as a job. Just wrap little cheese guys thinking about all the wonderful mac and cheese, pizza or, salad topper they may become. I’d be trying to guess the weights too.

Love this. Went to Murray’s at Fred Meyer the other day and none of the basket cheeses were under $5. In fact I found proper wedges on sale at cheaper than the misfit basket. I love picking a few up to try new things so I was super disappointed.

I love that one of the groceries near me has a “Try Something New Under $4” for their small cuts. I have come across some fabulous stuff that way.

We used the ends for Mac and cheese at one of the delis I worked at and cut them up for snack trays at another. Cheese ends are slept on so hard

God bless you for doing this, I’ve tried cheese I would have never tried because of these buckets

One of my local grocery stores has a basket like that, I love it! Samples of everything for a couple of bucks!

I call it the “Cheese Remnant Bin”.

Ok, this is from a shop? I legit thought it was just someone’s weekend stock of cheese and was horrified and delighted.

Bless. As a Singleton, it’s so nice to get able to get a variety without breaking the bank or a bunch going to waste.

  15. Now I know which co op I’m going to this weekend!

  16. Dazzling_Doubt6110

With all that cheese, you could be making grilled cheeses

  17. Plainchant

Is this something your cheese shop does? I admit that I have never been to a grocery that does this! It’s a very nice idea/practice.

Lol at first I thought this was shea butter soap and turmeric soap.

  19. We have a local shop that calls them “Cheese Orphans”

I had to read the comments to figure out what was going on here. I’ve never been to a store that does this and I’ve never eveb heard of “cheese ends”! Is this something that only specifically happens in cheese shops, or maybe only in certain countries? I’ve never seen this in grocery stores
