On our way to visit the Munakata Shrine, we stopped at this Japanese restaurant (washoku) where the specialty is super-fresh local fish. Lots of tanks with live specimens such as fugu, utsubo, okoze, kani…you cannot see it but there was a huge sea bream and other delicious fish swimming in the large pool.

All 4 of us got the chirashi set, but there are many sets to choose from. Everything was really delicious, especially the chawanmushi, sashimi, tempura with the renkon, okra and small fish being excellent (the sushi rice was just ok). The miso soup was fish-based, so it went well with everything.

I want to return for the Tai Chazuke Festival!

So jealous. The chawanmushi looks so good.
