My old Tiramisu recipe was a bit of a cheat. I used cream cheese, vanilla pudding, pasteurized carton eggs, and Kahlua for the filling. It may have been a cheat, but it was delicious. I had an idea to get closer to a true recipe. I made a pastry cream then added the Kahlua and mascarpone cheese. Then I folded in the whipped cream. I am very pleased with the results. Especially since I was winging it. I have to make at least two, possibly three, of these for a meeting/luncheon in a couple weeks. The tricky part is having enough refrigerator space to store them.

I like to put a little cream in first so the bottom doesn’t miss out.

This is kinda relevant, but i made a banana pudding tiramisu and it was bomb. Its basically banana pudding, but you sprinkle cocoa powder in between layers/ on top and dip the nilla wafers in coffee. I also added a couple dollops of greek yogurt to cut down on the heaviness of the dessert, and i whipped the whip cream to soft peaks so the pudding wouldnt be too firm after it lost its moisture to the wafers. I used the magnolia banana pudding recipe from girl who ate everything’s (? not sure if this is the correct name) website
