I had the dressed porcelain crab, and my friend had the smoked haddock over colcannon with a champagne sauce; between us we had a couple of Fin de Claire oysters flown in that morning from Normandy. The crab was perfectly cooked and complimented by a rather earthy garlic aioli, and the oysters were the pure stuff of saline, marine goodness. Remarkable and simple flavours, accompanied by fine service. Simply the best, most consistent seafood I’ve had!

The bill came to just over £100/$130, so not quite the thousand-bucks-a-head level that can be seen on this sub but still very much expensive enough to be a meaningful meal.
