Hi I'm new to gardening and growing. Not sure what is happening to my habanero plant. I thought he was sun scorched so moved him to less direct sun, but think he got worse. Then I thought it was over watered as the stem was looking brown and the leaves floppy, so moved him inside from greenhouse to windowsill, lots of sunlight. And now I think he's more crispy. There is also now black discoloring in the stem of the healthy leaves at the top.

Help me 🥺

Definitely a good amount of sun scald, put him in the shade and introduce him to sun either under tree shade or a shade cloth if the sun is really intense where you are. In Florida I had the same issue with a few of my plants when I thought they were ready for sun but they bounced back quickly and got huge under shade cloth/trees.

Burnt! Keep it in the shade for a while and it should recover fine. Looks like you didn’t harden it off. Good luck!

That soil looks fairly bad. You’ll want to be careful of overwatering

It’s hard to tell if it’s from overwatering or not, but it also like you have a mite problem (dark green, curled, growth retarded leaves). But again that could be from a long period of overwatering too.

Probably could use more light too once it’s hardened off gently (put it in 1 hour of sun 1 day, then 1:45 the next day etc
