Cookie expectation vs reality that I made today

  1. Are these browned butter chocolate chip cookies? I made the same mistake and didn’t chill the dough long enough before baking.

Crush them up and add them in icecream!!!

Those look delicious, like chocolate chip lace cookies

If these are from the “tasty’s” vegan cookie recipe made with coconut oil , they didn’t work out for me either. Tried the recipe twice , once with regular butter too. Still didn’t work out. Looked more or less the same as yours.

  5. Did you let the dough rest for at least overnight?

Ha! Been there, done that! Probably too much butter/shortening and oven temperature issues. Timing too. Probably edible if not the prettiest. Hang in there.

The best chocolate chip cookies recipe is from the tasteless baker on Instagram. The ingredients are in grams so it’s easy to follow correctly and has a small amount of cornflour. They look undercooked when u take them out of the oven, I always do a mix of white and dark chocolate chip and always add a sprinkle of salt on top

Well no need to rub it in. You fucking outdid the expectation. Those are gorgeous and perfect.

Echoing what other folks have said, those cookies still look delicious! If this happens again/you are just looking for a way to use these but don’t want to serve them as cookies (which personally I would definitely still eat), you could also always turn them into cookie butter! A Beautiful Mess has a good recipe/starting point for this online if you’re interested! Cheers 🙂

I don’t know what I expected but I certainly didn’t expect my stomach to hurt from laughing so much XD I’m so sorry, I know it was probably frustrating but the photo caught me off guard

  11. Add more flour. I’ve followed the recipe on the back of the Nestle morsels bag a half a dozen times (yes, I’m slow), and they always come out like this. I started adding more flour (enough that the dough isn’t sticky/wet anymore) and it’s SO much better!

I have an irrational hatred of social media videos of people tearing food items apart in this weird slow, fetishy manner to show the insides. Post a photo of a cross section, for fuck’s sake. I can imagine that what was done to this cookie wasn’t too bad though, it’s not gooey enough.

But the reality cookies, too wet, not enough structure. Maybe massively overmixed too?
