Why is a Five guys cheeseburger and little fries more expensive than a 8oz steak + salad + side item + hot rolls from Texas Roadhouse?

  1. These are the prices around me in Virginia.

I’ve eaten at Five guys before and it was pretty meh and I’ve eaten at Texas Roadhouse and their steaks are pretty tasty. Why is a cheeseburger and fries more expensive than a steak?

  2. Similar amount of meat, added cheese and unlimited toppings, a half pound of fries (though I doubt they’ll always get there it’s the nutrition information) vs a similar amount of potatoes, a caesar salad, and a shitty steak (sirloin is a bad steak)

If anything you’re highlighting that Five Guys isn’t that bad if they keep their quality up.

This is the same question my wife and I ask when we eat at Roadhouse. We love that we’re able to get a great sit down meal for the price of a fast food meal. We compare ours to Whataburger- a Whataburger meal for the two of us runs close to $25-30, whereas Roundhouse usually sits around $30

  4. Five guys burger always taste good but is never worth the money

    Because apparently two things:

    1. you comparing apples and oranges
    2. Eating out seems to be above your budget. 12 bucks for a burger is not a bad price. And you and I both know they give you enough fries to feed a family

Don’t forget to include your tip at Texas Roadhouse

Remember, with the Five Guys cheeseburger, you can put whatever you want on it – as many toppings as you want – at no extra charge. That’s a risk for them, so the elevated price makes sense. But if you pay $11.59 for a plain cheeseburger, that’s on you. If you design your burger right, it will taste better than restaurant burgers that cost more.

Also, sirloin is a cheap, budget-friendly cut. A Five Guys cheeseburger is definitely cheaper than a good cut of steak.

If cheeseburgers didn’t exist, I would rarely eat red meat. Even a sous vide dry aged steak has nothing on a fatty double cheeseburger with grilled onions and mustard.

  11. Because it can be. As long as people pay it they don’t care.

Texas Roadhouse is one of the best deals out there. This does t surprise me

I think a more apt comparison would be Chili’s. Similar burger quality (Chili’s is bigger and, in my opinion, better). Plus fries, salad, and drink, Chili’s is $10.99.

Fast food is paying for rapid delivery not quality
