first get ready to add these destinations to your bucket list Kathleen roach travels the state to find the best of New England and she shares it all on social media and now she’s going to share it with all of you you’ve got some great ideas for the summer this first one listen I’m a canoli fiend if I see one I need to have it and there are some great options here in Connecticut you can learn in the process yes yes so Peto pastry shop in East Haven offers canoli making classes um I absolutely love this place um it’s run by husband and wife Michael and Regina just the EP epitome of a small Connecticut owned family business um they offer canoli making classes so you can go in make the filling and the Shelf from scratch um you’ll take home your own box of canoli that you just made as long as um as well as the recipe to take home so you can recreate it with your friends and family at home it’s just such a fun unique activity uh you can follow them on Instagram that’s where they post all of their classes they sell out pretty quickly but they’re always adding new ones um and you can call the bakery um for inquiries and to make your reservation now I know there are some purists so what is your favorite kind of filling um the ricotta just PL agree right did they tell you how to make some of the other flavored ones or was it just it rata but you can add chocolate chips as well if you’d like interesting okay and did they share any like Trade Secrets or tips in the way in which you’re supposed to kind of you know form and shape the canoli yes but of course I can’t share that you know you got you got to take the class to find out that’s so much fun and and I’m not sure if you said it already about how frequently are are they doing these classes um they’re doing them I think they started with just once a month but they’ve been expanding because it’s become so popular and I’m so glad to see them succeeding they’re truly the sweetest people ever so you know get out there and support them love that and I love this as well we had the opportunity to visit this spot in hampen and uh my photographer John mjo and I we we love duts and we we really think we’re kind of dut snobs these were excellent they’re great yeah and they’re bite-sized goodness so so tell me the story about Mighty Donuts yes so i’ heard so many great things about this spot and I finally made it a few weeks ago and it it definitely lived up to the hype um so it’s a Latina owned business in hampen called Mighty Donuts they make the donuts right in front of you so you cannot get fresher than that um you can get them you know in in individual portions they have them on skewers they have them in boxes but what I think is really special is they have a milkshake and of of course any flavor that you’d like and then they have this bucket that fits right on top of the milkshake it’s filled with mini Donuts of whatever toppings you’d like on them and it’s just so fun I’ve never seen a dessert like that in Connecticut such a unique little treat loved it and it’s so funny too because you know you see the bucket and and uh you think to yourself like you have to share you don’t have to share that with anybody that’s all for you absolutely they also have really great juices there too so it’s it’s more than just the donuts and the milkshake it seems like they have a lot of options for folks who come in it’s perfect perfect Summer Spot for anything or craving and the owner couldn’t be more sweet oh my gosh she’s the sweetest she’s amazing love to see her doing well and all the success there I think I’m going to have to go back because I just watched that video and now I’m really hungry but I love alpacas and when I was looking at this video that you said over it got me so excited so tell me a little bit more about this place oh my gosh yeah when I discovered this I was obsessed with I was telling everyone about it um it’s called roaring Acres alpacas in Suffield um it’s a great really affordable family-friendly activity but you know good for all ages I absolutely loved it um so for just $5 per adult or $3 per child you can um actually go into the pen with the alpacas and pet them and feed them yeah it’s fantastic um and they only do it during their open Farm hours um right now it’s Thursdays through Saturdays you can check their website for specific hours um but there’s no time limits you can spend the full three hours for $5 with all these alpacas that seems like a really great deal it is it’s great if you’re looking to get outside um in a in a more affordable way this is perfect and it also is a great opportunity as well to learn about so many of the incredible Farms that we have here in our St absolutely yeah all right and then last but certainly not least I mean why go out when you can have Habachi at home absolutely this is a dream yeah yeah if you’re looking for an excuse throw a party this summer this is the perfect opportunity um it’s there’s a bunch of uh companies across Connecticut that do this now in the last years but I had a great experience with Habachi makas um so they’ll come they’ll bring the grill the chef all the food you just need to set up like tables and chairs for you and your guests okay um and you know they have the saki gun they have um all the entertainment they uh do magic tricks they make balloon animals they really just bring the party to you um and it’s just such a fantastic way to spend an evening I have to imagine as well too there’s a lot of stress that comes with hosting and so this seems like a great option for folks to just have no fuss absolutely I didn’t even feel like I was hosting it I kind of just showed up to my own party I love that um and and and people are always looking for ideas because they’re traveling the summer they want to really experience Connecticut in the best way and and something that I always think is interesting as well that you know you
