I had a craving for a delicious burger, so I set to work on learning to craft the best tasting cheeseburger I’ve ever had. Something that would make Randy and Mr. Lahey proud.

I gathered only the finest ingredients here is what I used:

• Snake River Farms Wagyu Ground Beef

• Fresh deli sliced American cheese

• Sliced tomato

• Chopped green leaf lettuce

• Grilled onion

• Buttered and pan toasted brioche buns

• Bottom bun smeared with some Duke’s Real Mayonnaise

I first toasted the buns. Then, after climatizing the meat, I then sprinkled some kosher coarse salt and fresh ground peppercorn over the meat, and placed on oiled cast iron skillet which was preheated for 5 minutes on medium heat.

I flipped it every 2 minutes until it was just right, then I added the cheese, and placed the grilled onion on top.

Man, ohh!

Crème Fraiche

On a serious note, I can’t stress enough to you the amazingness of Duke’s Mayonnaise. Holy shit that stuff is on a whole different level than the competition. Creamy as can be and no egg taste. I’m pretty sure this has to be what The Habit Burger uses because it tastes identical. Actually I modeled this whole thing after Habit, they chop their lettuce too.

Additionally, the taste of Wagyu ground beef is SUPERIOR. I didn’t understand just how much better it would taste. But it’s true. I can’t go back to normal ground beef. I didn’t even add much salt or pepper. Tremendous flavor.

At first I thought you had put crème fraiche on the bottom bun from the gif. Mayonnaise (especially with no other condiments) is almost as interesting a choice, but have at it!

I’m sure using wagyu makes it insane. Grilled onions are also always a great choice.

Gonna need you to make another, I will do quality inspections for you. Hold the tomato and add mushrooms for the quality inspection burger.

  4. This burger looks amazing!! Having had snake river and loved it and still order from there, give Alpine Butcher a shot one time!! I order from both places but if you do try it might I suggest adding the rosemary and maple wood cold smoked prime steak tips to your order…just….WOW.

Look up your own nayo recipe. It’ll be better. Thinner patties fried hard taste better. You did good.

Duke’s is delicious. Mayo is the (un)sung hero of all burgers, imo. I’m not even a huge fan of it, but properly applied, it seals the integrity of the bun and adds a perfect amount of flavor. I like umami mayonnaise lately. (Little shittake mushroom powder and fish sauce mixed into the mayo. No biggie.) Very tasty.

Looks good. But was it a frozen patty?

Try this, get some good 80/20 and a bottle of chipotle Tabasco and mix it liberally in the meat (like half a bottle for 1lb), don’t worry, most of the heat gets cooked out and left with great flavor. Add some garlic seasoning, and some Lawrys seasoning. Hand patty like 4 burgers. Cook on a flat top of some sort til it’s got a nice crust. Top with cheese and some good soft buns, remember when shopping for buns to always “finger the buns”. You’re welcome.
