I moved to a farming town in northern Canada (I know it sounds like an oxymoron) and ran into the same situation. Local butcher’s meat didn’t “look” great, I was always looking for AAA or something dry aged. As soon as I took the leap there was no looking back. I found out the beef is from 20min up the road, they’re all outside having the time of their life. Finished on corn though, but still… quality meat is something different. Congrats on the find!
