   Cupcakes are [vanilla](https://sallysbakingaddiction.com/simply-perfect-vanilla-cupcakes/#tasty-recipes-68697) with [whipped frosting](https://sallysbakingaddiction.com/whipped-frosting/). I added a bit of almond extract to the [cookie](https://funmoneymom.com/rainbow-pinwheel-cookie-recipe/) dough and rolled the layers pretty thin. I used Wilton gel dyes, and tried to stick to more of the pastel type colors.
