    I have always said that red onions are the most aesthetic onion. It is that iridescent red/purple that I love. It is also the best general purpose onion, and my second favorite after the shallot.

    In Spanish, they are called purple onions! Though I learned English fairly young, Spanish was my first language. There are still things I think make so much more sense in Spanish that I forget to translate to their English counterparts when speaking English. Purple onions and drinking soup are two off the top of my head

    As a non native speaker when I first learned of this I too was mad. There is nothing red about red onions 🤣
