Hi there! I visited japan for the first time earlier this year, after years of dreaming about having ramen in Japan. I finally got the chance to do it and I tried to make the most of it.

I visited many cities and tried various styles of ramen throughout the trip, and I will try to post recaps of all of them. I really wish I got to make it to over 40 shops, but I'm a weak man.

These are the 8 bowls I had in Osaka:

  1. Ichiran: This was a nice first contact with ramen in Japan and helped set the tone for the rest of the trip.
  2. Ramen Jinsei Jet: Great shoyu ramen which I got by accident because I actually wanted their tori paitan lol. The noodles in this one were super bouncy.
  3. Kadoya Shokudo: My favorite shop in Osaka from this trip. The tsukesoba is spectacular and I was a bit shocked by what ramen can be at it's highest level.
  4. Kirimen: This was Tamagokakemen. Just egg, shoyu tare and super high quality noodles, which were the highlight of the bowl.
  5. Tori Soba Zagin: Went to their main store where they serve Tori Paitan, my most preferred ramen style. Super creamy, silky smooth broth. Could sip for days.
  6. Ennosuke Shoten: Ultra thick, gravy-like chicken tsukemen that could be used as mortar to build houses. Really though, this was very unique ans I enjoyed it a lot.
  7. Chukasoba Uemachi: Really elegant shoyu bowl. The chicken broth really shines and the whole bowl just really works super well.
  8. Ide Shoten: Hopped on a train to Wakayama to try their regional style, a soy sauce seasoned tonkotsu. Very funky, the flavors and smell are on the spotlight in this bowl.

Hope you liked this recap, I'll be posting more from the rest of the trip, as I visited more cities. I also made longer version of this post in r/rameninjapan so feel free to check it out!!

Happy slurping and thank you for reading 🙂
