Is there a difference in quality or taste of these “egg of the sun” mangoes? The mango in the first picture cost 4,900¥ per mango at the Miyazaki prefecture store in Tokyo and the second one costs over 11,000¥ per mango at a fancy department store.

Taiyou No Tamago is a brand of mango and it’s fantastic if you like sweet, soft and juicy mangoes that don’t have much mango flavor and don’t have much acidity. As with anything agricultural there will be variation and the highest grade (largest, prettiest, sweetest) will go to department stores and places like Sembikiya. The lower grade ones will get sold to places like antenna shops and supermarkets at a lower price. That being said, we occasionally see this at our local Ozeki (discount supermarket) and it still tastes pretty good even if they are smaller.
Miyazaki mangos are the best on earth
For that price they better give you a bowjob or something too 😂😂😂
Japanese have an obsession with “perfect fruit”. I don’t understand it. It seems in opposition to the philosophy of “every cherry blossom is perfect”.
Holy shit… thats better thsn looking at nudes… they look so tasty 😍😍😍
Sugar content
It’s neat, but let’s be honest. It’s a novelty for people who want to spend on a luxury. I’m not hating on it, and I’ve no doubt it tastes amazing. Just not what I’d choose to spend luxury money on is all.
If I’m going to spend $100 CAD on a piece of fruit it better at least get me high
Just buy some mangos from the Philippines and call it a day…
The more expensive one will come wrapped in packaging from the department store. Important if you’re giving it as a gift, not so much if you’re just going to eat it.
