and we are back with a very special edition of today food Jennifer and Pat Garner were nice enough to come into Studio 1A this morning the world is absolutely fallen in love with their culinary chemistry we certainly have the pretend cooking show on Jen’s social media and this morning they have brought their sweetness and skill to all of us here they’re going to share our family favorite dessert recipes it is great to have you both here and Jen why don’t we just start with this uh Barbara’s blackberry cobbler who was Barbara Barbara was um my best friend growing up it’s her mom Barbara Lance Mrs L I called her and she could do everything she had quilts hanging in the cultural center in West Virginia she was the best flower arranger right Mom yes she was and she was the very best yep there’s there’s a picture of her yes so she and she was the very best cook so this is a recipe that she gave my mom and Mom you use it how often did you make it this last week I made it three times because because I take it to every potluck because it’s easy and everyone loves it it’s a home but now they’re going to see the recipe and what else what can I take to the you need a new trick all right start West Virginia you stay you leave the leave the cobbler to Mom what’s the first thing we do all right Mom what do we we buy the blackberries grocery St we got them right here I used to pick they’re washed they’re ready to go I used to pick them on the back of the hill but they the Briars reached out and scratched my husband and he poisoned them them off so I had had to start buying them at the grocer store buy your blackberries right don’t pick them off a wild Hill um caution with Bill gner okay you wash your blackberries got you grease your pan you put you put your I’ll do that a little butter down and we put the blackberries in go ahead and start your stuff and Mama G do you do real measurements or do are you somebody that just likes to eyeball it well actually for the flour and sugar I do real measurements right you put in a cup of flour got it and a cup of sugar and I put the sugar in first oh okay because but I said the flour first okay so flour and sugar are going down Shen you got the pan greased this looks pretty easy by all accounts so far it is extremely easy that’s why I do it I love that I want to watch Jennifer break the egg because didn’t your mom teach you how to one hand it no she learned that on her own her could no more one hand I put in a teaspoon of salt okay and then I’m going to stir it with this you stir it should I do an egg yep so we have the wet and dry ingredients Happ here black down and we’re going to squeeze a little now I must confess I leave the lemon juice and I used to put the lemon juice in the um the Almond the almond extract should I squeeze a little bit of lemon over here mama black okay oh yeah that was my job too sorry Mom got uh oh and very good good good I quit doing it because it doesn’t make any difference all right well I’m sure Mrs L had this for a reason so we’ll just we’ll do we’re going to honor that we’re that recip all right what was that CH you just did almond extract that was a/4 teaspoon of almond extract got so that’s now the egg goes into the flour and the No the butter right M no no no no J go to your room no yes ma’am yes ma’am okay this goes in you’re doing great mom oh the egg goes right into the yes she knows what she’s talking about and and you’re just going to stir the egg into the flour and sugar and salt beautiful do you have a Cho do you like margarine or butter do you care real butter real butter got it but way back Mrs L used margarine right cuz that’s you stop picking a fight with your mother I don’t know I used real butter real butter is the answer there she knows trust me she knows I don’t even buy margarine anymore no nobody does so essentially this is the crumble that’s going to go on top is that what we’re making yeah but you have to get your fingers in it to really get work yes ma’am do you want it to be kind of lumpy or yes it’s going to be lumpy but but that’s what makes it Cris yeah okay yum how is it I’ll just it’s in front of you unbelievable Craig’s eyes lit up when he had his first bite Miss L knew what she was doing Jen what are you doing over there I’m just whipping cream it’s good with with ice cream or whipped cream but yeah it’s so fast to make whipped cream mama G what are you doing now what is this technique just the um crumble on top with your hands just putting the crumble on top and it would be nice if all the flour were crumbled but it isn’t so you is I think that was a shot your way Jen be nice if my daughter did it right but that’s not going to happen today no it’s not it’s she’s just saying it’s no big deal right that’s right that’s right that’s it’s never going to all crumble are we eating enough cobblers in America these days we’re not right I mean this is delicious I feel like people think might be the blackberries might be bitter but there could you use sweet could you use blueberries on this oh yeah you can use peaches too oh peach peach too all right so we have to crumble down on the blueberries the pan has been uh last thing that you do yep where’s the wet one the last thing that you do is put on six o of met met melted butter this is brown go yep and then we’re going to put this in the oven for how long until it’s until it’s done ultimately that’s I apologize done when you’re at home cook till things are through and done and the melted butter be when you put it on there you have to let it cool okay no no no I’m going to put this in the oven back here magical oven in fact I melt it in the microwave and then I have to use a pot holder because it’s so hot oh look Mrs G it’s done already it is done here it is wow delicious you got to get in Wham get some wh cream on there all right get in there oh look you did great with that my goodness every every’s face oh my gosh how delicious like I said I take it to every potluck because it is so easy and it’s always eaten I never have to take any home I recently had a potluck on my back deck and I looked over and people were getting their cobbler first there you go it would be great if we could measure how many people are are going are watching this right now and are going to make this yes if you make it take a picture and send it to us what what would they use like a hashtag or something Mama s it today.com and I bet we would have a beautiful array of people paying homage to your friend Barb that’d be so special yeah yeah thank you guys for being all right everyone hour those recipe for Barbers blackberry cobbler head today.com food and we are back in a moment the first ass is today on NBC thank you so much 5. Cobbler lovers are you afraid of dying? We all have eternal life. The question is where will you spend it. Jesus died on the cross for you. He who hears my word (JESUS) and believes in Him (GOD) who sent me will have eternal life! He will not be condemned, he has crossed over from death to life. John 5:24

  6. I hope I can be like her when I’m her age ❤️ and I’m talking about her attitude when I say that.. the resilience, grace and positivity. She’s too pretty too 😊

  7. I made it today, very tasty 😊, but it seems too much butter for me, 6oz!

  8. I make a lot of cobbler and in other countries it is also called crumble. If you don't have any fresh fruit then just use canned fruit.

  9. Bless you two Ma Ma Garner & Jennifer, you r both great! ENJOYED YOU ON THE TODAY SHOW ALL BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE SO YOU FIT IN PERFECTLY!A+ GROUP!TODAY!❤😊⭐🙏🏼

  10. They are so goofy together! haha. Blackberries are tart and delicious but they are the wormiest berry of all. You really have to soak em in vinegar to get all the worms out. They really should have told people to do that. Baking the worms isn't the solution. Get well soon Pat!

  11. I love how Jen gets the royal Mom treatment in being called "Jennifer Ann" 😂 We all know parents mean business when they middle name you!!

Seriously, this was a wonderful segment. The dynamic duo were great to watch in action.
