when life hands you lemons what do you do you make lemonade hi everyone I’m Vicki with thrifty recipes there’s a saying that when life hands you lemons make lemonade I say when life hands me lemon juice oh thank you I make lemonade I’m going to show you how to make my 5-minute lemonade and Anne takes three ingredients lemon juice concentrate some water and some sugar and it’s absolutely delicious if you like those lemonade shake ups from the country fair you’ll love this it is sweet and it’s tart and it’s wonderful and it’s so easy let’s get started I also want to talk about the concentrate that lemon juice I have tried different brands and I found what I like and what I don’t like I do not like the Dollar Tree sorry I used to love Aldi but they changed the preservatives and the best one now that I can find is this great value from Walmart so if you really want to make lemonade and try it the way that I make it I suggest you get this lemon juice because they’re not all the same even the brand name the real lemon juice whatever has a preservative in it that I don’t think tastes as good as what is in here so just keep that in mind I like to use one of these lemonade containers from the store you can get these at Dollar Tree or aldis or Walmart or whatever but I’d like to use this because it helps me measure my ingredients there are lines on the side you see that line right there I’m going to put lemon juice up into that line I’m going to stop right at that first line if you don’t have one of these containers I’m going to show you how to make it without one just using one of your regular pitchers so you will need some measuring cups and we’re going to use our lemon juice concentrate starting with a two cup measuring cup and I’m going to pour some of mine jeez concentrate into the measuring cup I’m going to pour 1 and 1/3 cups there 1 and 1/3 turn that around here so 1 in 1/3 you can see it from this side 1 in 1/3 cup of lemon juice I’m going to set that aside but if you have one of these containers I’ll show you where this comes up to it comes up to that first line on the container the next thing we need to do is make some simple syrup simple syrup is simply water and sugar it’s sugar that’s been dissolved into the water you will need a 2 cup measuring cup and put 1 cup of just regular white sugar in here and I’m going to top this off with water up to 2 cups so I just happen to have some filtered water here for my refrigerator and I’m going to pour it in here until I have 2 cups of water so 1 cup of sugar with water to bring it up to 2 cups and just take a spoon I’m using an ice tea spoon kind of ironic iced tea spoon to make lemonade it’s going to be cloudy I’m going to put this in the microwave for 2 minutes 2 minutes and stir my simple syrup is out of the microwave it was 2 minutes the first time and 1 minute the second time I’m just stirring it up it’s very hot so do be careful this is not for children to make and I don’t want to put the hot simple serve directly into my plastic bottle that I’m using so I’m going to put some water in here first I decided to fill it up I had lemon juice to the first line I decided to fill it up to the 3rd line with water and the reason I do this is because my simple sir as you know it’s microwaved it’s hot and I wanted some cold water in here so that I wasn’t pouring just hot water into my plastic bottle so let me change the angle of the camera here and let then show you what I’m going to do I’m pouring it very slowly I want to be careful and I don’t want to lose any of the simple syrup simple syrup is simply water and sugar that’s what simple syrup is very simple okay I have that in here okay now I want to top this off with some more water I’ll be right back if you’re using one of these containers I left about one inch at the top so I can shake it up otherwise if you’re using your own container it takes four cups of water at the end to finish off the lemonade recipe so let’s go over this again it is 1 in 1/3 cups of lemon juice lemon juice concentrate I use a 2 cup measuring cup and put 1 cup of white sugar and filled it with water up to to the 2 cup mark stir that up microwaved it for 2 minutes stir 1 minute stir then I added some water to my bottle and finished it filling to about 1 inch from the top if you’re using your own container just simply add 4 cups of water and there you go folks that’s my lemonade recipe I call it aunt Vicky’s homemade lemonade I appreciate you watching if you like these kind of videos give me a thumbs up like
