My name is Suzy Karadsheh, Chef and New York Times Bestselling Author, and here on The Mediterranean Dish, you will find easy, wholesome, and healthy recipes that celebrate the bold flavors of the Mediterranean from Southern Europe, to North Africa, and the Middle East.

I am a true daughter of the Mediterranean. I was born on the coast of Egypt in the bustling cosmopolitan city of Port Said, the North entrance of the Suez Canal, & just a boat ride away from Italy, Greece, Turkey, Lebanon, Palestine and Israel.

Learn how to make Greek food, Italian food, Moroccan, Middle Eastern, adapted with a modern twist for all the busy cooks and moms out there! Most of our recipes abide by the Mediterranean diet, but please consult a doctor for your dietary needs.

– Fruit salad is a bit underrated, but that’s because most people are making your average potluck salad. Let me show you how to take your fruit salad game up a few notches, the Mediterranean way, of course. Let’s make my Mediterranean Berry Fruit Salad. Just like any other salad, don’t forget to make a dressing for your fruit salad. And this one is amazing. So we’re gonna actually start at the stove top to make the dressing. I know it sounds weird, but we have a combination of lime juice, honey, and a splash of rose water. And we’re going in with juice of three large limes, about three or so tablespoons of some good honey. The honey I use is Greek honey from our site, themediterraneandish.com. Just hit the shop tab. It’s amazing. That’s good. I’m just eyeballing it here. Greek Alfa Honey, so good. Mm. So at the moment, all I need to do is stir this party together to make a sweet and tart sauce or dressing for the fruit salad. Once the honey kind of dissolves in the lime, you are ready to go. Great, and I’m gonna turn it off. And now I need a splash of rose water, pure rose water. And you can grab it again on our site if you don’t have some. Just a tiny splash. Totally optional, if you wanna stick with the lime and honey alone, that’s fine too. Now we’re gonna let this cool while we work on the salad. All right, so we have some cherries and we have strawberries, blackberry and raspberry. Whichever berries you like, this will work just fine. So first, we’re gonna take care of this. So I worked on this earlier for the most part, but just so you know, here’s a quick way to pop that right off. Just use a straw and push that through, and here you go. I love when I make a fruit salad to kind of just do something unexpected, and this is very, very Mediterranean, Middle Eastern, Eastern Mediterranean way of making a fruit salad. And I can’t wait for you guys to see the whole thing because it will surprise you in the best way. So this is kind of how it works to remove the stem. And we’re gonna do the same with the cherries, except we’re gonna go from this part, and then just going in. And we wanna pit the cherries so we’re gonna just gently push the pit out. How easy is that? You can just put it right on your cutting board, makes it easier to handle, and you just push the pit out. A metal straw works best here. We’re working with berries, so we work gently. I don’t wanna kind of move it from one bowl to another, so I’m gonna work in one bowl. You’re gonna start with the strawberries, thinly sliced. So a fruit salad the Mediterranean way is quite different than your average fruit salad. First of all, aside from the beautiful fresh produce that’s used, we like to add texture and flavor to our fruit salad. So obviously, I already made a dressing that is going to take it up a few notches, and it comes together and it looks beautiful and it also is surprising. Every bite is great. Thinly sliced strawberries go right in the bowl. And then we’re gonna go ahead with our cherries that we pitted already. And we can just halve them or slice them thinly, however you like. I’m curious to know how people pit their cherries. Let me know in the comments if you have a favorite way. Here we go. Cherries joining the strawberry party. Smooth sailing from here, you guys. So we’ve got our blackberries. Look how gorgeous this party is. And raspberries. And if you have them, some pomegranate seeds, gorgeous. Some walnuts. And now the dressing has cooled I added a splash of rose water. If you don’t have it or don’t feel like you’re gonna be using it, it’s not a big deal. This actually does work without it, but I highly recommend a splash of rose water. There you go. So this is a little tart and a little sweet. It’s perfect. A gentle toss for everything. And then we’re gonna do the final finishing touches, because like I said, texture and flavor make a good salad. So for a little texture, some mint, fresh mint. When you make a salad, any salad, fruit salad or any salad, the Mediterranean way, you can count on a delicious dressing and a few fresh herbs. So mint is great with this lovely sweet fruit salad. A dressing is everything on a salad, and that goes for fruit salad. I don’t know why people don’t do that. They just toss their fruit without a dressing. But look at this beautiful juice, you know? And then you’ve got a little nut going for texture, and a little bit of freshness from the mint. I am excited. Let’s see. Oh yeah. Mm. I’m tasting the citrus, a little bit of the honey. And it smells like roses from the rose water. It’s so good. Mm. And just like that, super simple but so much more elevated. It’s not your average potluck fruit salad, it’s the Mediterranean Summer Fruit Salad you should be making on repeat. Find the recipe with this fruit salad over on themediterraneandish.com. 1. Cant wait to make this soon for me i never had mediterranean fruit salad before perfect for my after office snacks

  2. I love this recipe, and fruit salads in general 😄
    Thank you for your recipe ♡🙏🏻

    Also although it's with a Mediterranean twist – berries, or fresh berries are quit hard to find at a Mediterranean area such as Israel because of the very hot climate ;

    So here it counts as luxurious.
    we do enjoy (depending on the season)
    fresh Israeli blueberries with pineapple, grapes, cherries, mulberries, straw-berries (😜) as well,

    combined with watermelon, Melon, nectarines, and oranges ofcourse (!)

    we also like to eat it alongside your great Greek 10% yogurt with vanilla beans and rose hip syrup 🥰

  3. I just tried the metal straw method for pitting cherries and it does work. Make sure that you are doing this over the sink or on the cutting board. I tried it over the kitchen table and it looked like blood splatter from a crime scene.
    Growing up, I would compete with my brothers and sister to see who could hold the most pits in their cheeks (think chipmunks) or see who could spit the pit the furthest (aw the joys of childhood, can't wait to show future grandchildren these fun games)
