I worked so hard on these and I have a few stalks left.

Looks like maybe a squirrel from the thoroughness of it. I’ve only ever lost (all of my) ears to raccoons, who took a bite out of each one, knocked the plants down and trampled the squash patch that was supposed to keep them away from the corn. It’s so infuriating. I’m really sorry for your losses.

Raccoons completely destroyed corn when we grew it and that’s why we don’t grow it anymore.

Likely suspect is whatever rodents you have around that are able climb a stalk & feed without breaking the stalk (like, groundhogs & capybaras are probably out of the running…..)

For me, it’d be black rats (aka roof rats)

Skunks !! I have videos in my phone of skunks doing this to my corn last year

  6. I’m going with a raccoon. They are thorough and this is picked clean.

  7. Look for the person that’s walking funny..that’s the AHOLE you’re looking for

  8. I grew corn for the first time this year, and it will be the last year. Mine looks exactly like yours. The mice got to them, then ants came for the leftovers. But I got two zucchini as big as my forearm. So that’s a win 😁 Good luck with the rest of your garden.

Squirrels. We never grew it again after they did this to pretty much every single ear. 😭😭

I got a tip to avoid this from a fellow allotmenter (haven’t tried though) . Put old socks on the ears of corn before they ripen.
