I'm going to hang it tomorrow. It was 90 degrees at 8 pm, I'm done for the night.

I left some scapes just to see how much different they would turn out. I would say on average, trimming the scapes allowed for larger bulbs… but there were some pretty large bulbs on garlic that still had scapes, and some small bulbs on garlic without.

In general, I will probably clip scapes and plant a little further apart from now on. Some were 2 inches apart.

Any suggestions on hanging, if I should or should not trim the roots, would be appreciated.

I’m wondering what to do about the roots as well. Yours did so much better than mine!

Scapes are different. I’ve cut/pull scapes off the plant and they continue to turn into little cloves of goodness. Next year I’m going to pull them then set the scapes aside.

Don’t forget to share to your friendly garlic aficiano’s because I grow an excess of garlic.
