Japanese Food Help identify this fish July 2, 2024 Hi! A booth at a Food & Wine event in Nara last fall had this fish. Some had roe some did not. They were being cooked on charcoal. It was amazing and I want it. I think the recipe is Shioyaki but what kind of fish is this? by MareIncognita 13 Comments ToToroToroRetoroChan 5 months ago It’s generally [Ayu](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ayu_sweetfish), I believe. cinnahusky420 5 months ago Looks like trout, yummy ShallowReef 5 months ago Sweet fish i think karakarakarasu 5 months ago Ayu.
