Just as my scapes start to pop through, I’m eating my last head from last year.

There are some benefits to gardening in a colder climate. Garlic maturing later and a cool basement equals still eating last year’s garlic almost until the fresh crop is ready. Admittedly, they are not as crisp as they were a month ago but still better than what you get in the grocery stores.
