hi guys and welcome back to another episode of Cindy’s home kitchen I’m Cindy and behind the phone is my son Michael Michael hey go ahead and say hi to everybody and we’re here today guys cuz we are making famous famous uh shrimp scampy recipe right famous Red Lobster shrimp scampy the famous Red Lobster shrimp scampy I laughter I just I forgot but anyway as you can see we have the pasta here boiling it’s going to be like another 6 7 minutes before we can put the pasta in there I like to B make it all Dente as soon as it’s soft but uh not that soft like you know what I’m saying it tastes like uh like flour you know and here we have a big pan and this is the famous red lober shrimp scamping so the first thing that you do you take a little bit of olive oil like this oh yeah and then you put your shrimp in here the already those are from uh mhm the not the butcher the seafood market from from the uh the meat market yep the meat market and the supermarket not frozen exactly yeah and they were already to vein and peel yep I mean uh how much were they I don’t remember though 79 a pound I think yep so they were on sale $7.99 a pound which is not bad so the first thing that we’re going to do is brown them in olive oil watch them sh they not they’re not pink anymore see what we’re going to do let me put a little bit more of olive oil you know we’re going to do the olive oil with the butter the melted butter so you can see so famous Red Lobster shrimp here this is how you make it come on Michael you put the shrimps in a little bit of olive oil you put it on high cuz you want to Brown them and as they Brown you want to move them okay so we’re going to keep on moving them so while that is cooking there come on Michael I want to show everybody what we are going to uh we got here uh the wine and the lime so first we put the shrimps and after we put the shrimps we thr the garlic and salour like that on the top a lot of garlic not a whole bunch but I’m saying like 3 tablespoons of of uh of cut up um garlic you gave me that uh fresh T wow I’m going to tell you smell that M delici reminds me of New York City I don’t know I don’t know if I told you guys that I I was raised in New York City in the 70s so I went to middle school elementary school middle school in the first year of high school then after the first year of high school my parents sent my sister and me is only one sister to the Caribbean so I kind of like finished high school there but I came right after I turned 18 years old you know I left there when I was 15 they sent us down there from New York and then as soon as I turned 18 I came back there you go so this reminds me of going to to those Chinese restaurants and they always were doing food I had an uncle that Chinese restaurant so we used to go in um to his restaurant every Sunday used to go to the movies and then from there go there and I mean the food was delicious I remember I used to eat a lot of shrimps and um like you know and a lot of shrimps and pasta and then my mom used to make this a lot in the house it’s Italian thre Lobster cuz she wanted like to make get like the restaurant she never really got the recipe to the fee but I did some you know what I’m saying my mom used to be a great cook but I’m a great cook than my mom ever was so here we go here’s our shrimps let Brown them a little bit more smells so good M they have to look like you see what I’m saying you can tell they’re fresh cuz usually when they’re not fresh they’re already cook on high as high as high I have to have it a little bit more like that I really don’t want them to burn see oh yeah we’re not going to put salt not until the end so we’re going to be putting in like a couple of minutes we’re going to be throwing the wine inside how do they love my car are so good they smell pretty good yeah really good I know my daughter Jennifer’s going to like this she likes this a lot and my son Michael likes it and I like it my husband and my other Sun don’t so they can order a pizza or something later yeah so okay so here we are t t let’s wait okay see I got for a minute hold on let’s check the pasta here see how do you know when it’s done you’ll see I I don’t know I um you eyeball it I usually no you don’t eyeball it pasta is very tricky you have to walk look at that other string there this is what I do I take a piece and I go like this it’s almost done here taste that yeah but has a little big almost there’s a little crunch to it yeah a little crunch it so we’re going to like wait you know so by the time we’re done with this it will be done W look at it and all that garlic is uh is you can smell the oil of the garlic going through W that’s right I think I’m going to e one of them little guys to taste them I love Seafood oh I like it too but you got to be careful with seafood that’s why when I make seafood I don’t like to buy the Frozen kind I like to buy it fresh from the uh the market you know what I’m saying why because you never know I mean um it can be expired it can be sometimes because it’s too much Frozen you can get very sick real easy eating Seafood if it’s not fresh I’m like just going to put it out there and I think that almost everybody out there if you’re a Coke if you know anything about cooking that’s something that uh you know that’s why I don’t there certain places when I go to eat I don’t like ordering Seafood from certain places you know right like if you’re going to a burger place you really order fish hold on guys I am going to cut here Michael I’m going to take one little piece for me look at that let me let me see let see how is it M delous yall know okay with that wow I’m going to move it it’s very fresh M I’m going see how it it tastes totally different it tastes different from the Frozen guys like it tastes like cuz once you freeze it it just doesn’t taste the same it tastes like the water kind not the water but it tastes like it was in the ocean you could tell it was in the ocean mhm you know put this amount of wine is that one cup mhm well what does the wine do this is half a cup it just um what it does is um takes the garlic the olive oil and the lemon juice and it breaks the seasoning apart you know okay so you can actually you can taste the garlic from there already that’s delicious and I’m going to take I got to get out what do you call these uh lemons this is a f one oh um a strainer yeah can you hold it with the other hand there okay okay there you go help m a little lower this a little bit he don’t worry guys put it down put it down don’t worry guys I can use hand we’re going to squeeze I have to do this because has a couple of seeds exactly as you see that’s one and we’re going to take the other one put it more over here on this side SM yeah exactly this is for the uh the hell the food is in Dominican Republic this is for the what do you call it the acidity so we need that acid so is that how the shrimps are in Dominican Republic and though yes they look like that everywhere yeah just like here Michael the same thing you can buy these were kind of like large shrimps and this is half a cup of butter okay okay melted melted you put it in there oo like that M mhm smells delicious yeah it does and you want to put a little bit of a salt on top of that not a lot and then it’s time to taste to again another shrimp you’re jealous people you can actually duplicate this recipe in your house and this is the famous Red Lobster shrimps champion this is how they make it I downloaded the recipe here my go that one for you now and this one for me delicious right a little bit of red pepper mhm that in there I don’t want to put a lot you don’t have to do this if you’re making your recipe right but this re hot that’s how it goes yeah who doesn’t love red pepper flak to put a little bit of salt cuz it has like no taste and I’m going check the pasta again and I’m going to put this very low right let it let it let it ferment exactly let it brought thing in there and I think the pasta is done already yeah you can tell right yeah it looks yeah hold on a second you always want to double check guys cuz you never know looks can be deceiving Al Dente mhm okay here taste one I’m just giving one for M trying to grab it guys this is so good I can’t even grab it no you can’t you see Mom grabs it real quick yeah so let me get the thing for the pasta so we can drain it oh that’s good yeah right I mean pasta cooks really fast we going to put it in the pan right until it boils I put a little bit of salt in there a little bit of real garlic and a little bit of olive oil so that way when the pasta cook is nice and soft it’s not kind of like dry okay that’s right so let me take these and I’m going over there Michael all right go ahead let me put these gloves protect me better that’s right okay be careful say here we go all right let’s do that get back a little bit Michael get this will jum it’s okay I’m a camera man that’s what we do we take [Music] risks okay pretty right yeah just put it here so it does in drip we’re going to bring it over where the shrimps are we’re going to add it up okay look that now we’re going to take my spoon here oh yeah and we’re going to turn it now the question is is there enough shrimp and the answer is yes yes there’s plenty of shrimps very this is only like for three people that we’re going to eat here right Mike oh yeah oh I’m I’m going to eat a couple Ms see shrimpers we’re going to take a little bit of parsley oh yeah we going to make that pretty yeah oh it looks real pretty already smells good it smells good and this is how you guys do your famous Red Lobster shrimp scamping little bit more done cuz that’s what makes it pretty I’m going to get this to put in here and we’re going to put it here excuse me Ser it right here let me get my gloves oh sorry you want to get that no Teddy no the dog the dog almost guys right Mike well guys do at that and here’s the delicious R scampy that we made from Cindy’s home kitchen so I hope you guys try it if you guys want to duplicate it go ahead and do that but if you guys do so duplicate this recipe just load up a   1. "Fresh" shrimp from the grocery store is really frozen shrimp that's been defrosted. I always buy frozen and defrost myself.
