I decided to try the new Chip City on Clybourn (images 1-3) and Brun on Clark (images 4-6). Both are in Lincoln Park.

CHIP CITY

I got the s’mores cookie and the frootie crunch cookie from Chip City.

The insides were SUPER soft, which is a huge plus in my book. The doughier the cookie, the better, for me. The outsides were a bit on the dry side, but I don’t know if it’s just because they may not have been fresh. It’s nothing that 15 seconds in the microwave couldn’t fix, though.

I’d go back for another chance, especially because their overall menu looks promising.

BRUN

Honestly, the quality and texture of the cookies felt very similar to Chip City. Soft inside and a little harder on the outside. Pretty much the same size and girth.

I got the Oreo cookie and the Biscoff cookie. Out of the 4, the Oreo was my favorite (Chip City had a cookies and cream cookie that I was inclined to try but I didn’t want to copy that at Brun).

I’ve tried Levain and Crumbl, as well. I know Levain is highly rated, but I wouldn’t put that place clearly above either of these two places (partially because Levain cookies are either almost entirely chocolate or riddled with chocolate chips, which ain’t my thing). I’d sell my first born for a lifetime supply of snickerdoodle cookies from Noodles & Co and I have yet to find a cookie in Chicago that tops that one for me.

Open to more cookie spots to try in the city!
