  1. I this is rare. Did you even flip it on both sides?

  2. HighlandHeathen

Perfect. You can tell it’s not raw as it wouldn’t be flowing with juices otherwise.

  3. ozmartian

Did you grind the meat yourself or is that store bought packaged ground beef? Hoping its the former.

I’m actually kinda dumbstruck at how many people here don’t seem to know what medium rare looks like.

    This is spot on.

Im glad you enjoyed it but thats a hard hell no. The texture of raw ground beef is way too slimy never mind the visual. Steak, hell ya but ground should be medium well at a minimum.

Thats why smash burgers are so great. Well done and full of taste because crispy goodness and cheese!

Looks so much better than these paper thin over charred patties everyone are calling “smash burger”….

Um, no! It was an untoasted soggy bun, and too rare for me. A steak 100% but not my burgers. I like med well. But if you like it go for it

  8. I’m here for it! I didn’t even read any common yet but I’m sure there’s a bunch of people complaining about how you shouldn’t eat it this way. I remember when you could go to Fuddruckers and get a medium burger and it was delicious. I love thick burgers that are cooked medium. That is if you use the right kind of meat that tastes good that way.

The waiter in the background makes me think this is from a fancy restaurant, which makes the untoasted bun even more egregious.

The sensation of soggy bread and the sliminess of rare ground in a bite would make me spit it out as a reflex!

  11. If you grind it yourself sure. If not you’re just waiting for problems.

  12. yerrmomgoes2college

That’s not medium rare that’s just uncooked in the middle lol

  13. FloppyDonkeyTrick

Any kind of rare ground beef is dangerous and ignorant

If I ground the beef, then medium is fine, else go for well done. And i do like a toasted bun.

Otherwise, I am a big big fan of a minimalist buger, and so plus one to you, sir. May the beef prevail. 👌

  15. Luscious_Lunk

Loose slightly cooked ground beef with no crust or crisp on an untoasted bun is something alright

  16. ReallyRiles55

Everyone is talking about how red that is, but that doesn’t matter. The REAL reason this is unacceptable is the height of that paddy.

  17. Ignore the haters, OP. Minus the onions that’s a 10/10 burger.

  18. Nothinbutmike

Dude you just posted a burger that was cooked perfectly, what the fuck is this abomination.

  19. LazyOldCat

Everyone, rightly, noticing the lack of bun toasting. But blithely ignoring the perfect doneness.

    Nice job.

  20. Medium rare for a burger? Idk about this one chef. I guess for some real good quality beef but I’d be scared of doing that with the basic 80/20 beef

I love the cook on the meat; don’t listen to the haters. I would add a piece of leafy lettuce under the onion, more cheese and a god damn condiment. The bun could also be thinner; I think an oversized english muffin is always nice.
