A beautiful dinner on the terrace of La Rôtisserie in Hotel Storchen, centrally located in Zurich, Switzerland.

First off, the view is immaculate, especially near sunset. Moreover, the service was perfect – exactly what you’ve come to expect at a Michelin-starred establishment at this price range.

Each course was an artful and colorful display and the ingredients highlighted on the menu were truly accentuated in the overall flavor. The portion sizes were also substantial enough to be genuinely full. Coupled with a wine pairing, I took one of my best naps after this dinner.

Siting in one the most elegant terraces in Zurich during summertime, the chef’s tasting menu was traditional yet contemporary, range from modern takes on traditional Swiss cuisine to creative Asian- or Latin-inspired concoctions. All were perfectly executed and rich in flavor. My personal highlights were Red Mullet from The Atlantic (the consistency of the tomato fascinated me) and the Onion Essence (a trio of smaller dishes showcasing the onion’s beau). The dessert was also a great finale, I even bought honey to take home.

Overall, this area of Zurich is already so dignified and lavish, you cannot help but hold high expectations when being seated at La Rôtisserie. It is safe to say these expectations are not only met, but exceeded at times. 2.5hr dinner, wonderful view, perfect service, left full — it would likely take a special occasion, but I would 100% return for another terrace dinner here. 10/10

I would have loved to add photos of the inside dining room and terrace view, but all the ones I captured included other people’s faces.
