So these were actually supposed to be cake pops 🙃

I've never made cake pops before but I was aware that they're trickier than people assume. Lots that can go wrong. So I was thrilled when I made it to the decorating stage with minimal issues. My coating wasn't completely smooth and my colors weren't exactly what I wanted. But aside from that it was going well. And then.. the sticks started coming through the tops 🫠. So frustrating. I ended up just removing all the sticks before the rest got ruined.

If anybody has advice on how to avoid it or foolproof recipes/ratios that they can share I'd really appreciate it. I used homemade vanilla cake and buttercream for these.. is box/store bought better?

You need to coat the sticks in candy melt and stick them in the cake balls upside down (so the balls are resting on a pan not the stick) and let them set in the fridge for a few hours before you dip them in the candy melt again and decorate them (at least one hour).

I gasped when I realized they were CAKE POPS you’re kidding, I would eat entirely too many of these. Do they freeze well?? I would love to do something like this for my wedding (:

Oh. My. God. These are absolutely PERFECT! Forget the cake pops…why fiddle with a stick when you don’t have to? I’m more of a savoury person than a sweet person, so when I do have something sweet I just want a small amount of something really good…and your mini cakes fit the bill ideally! BRAVO! 😍😋💯👍👍👏👏👏👏👏

They look beautiful, great job! And now I want a tea party with tiny victorian cakes on a fancy cupcake stand…

As for the sticks, what type did you use? Maybe ice cream sticks (flat, wide) would work better for this size/shape?

These are so cute! Excellent job. I think you could sell these to everyone in town for children’s birthday parties or for anyone’s birthday or wedding really. I’d pay more than I’d like to admit for the whimsy of these.

Ummm, I think we need a tutorial recommendation or mold recommendations. Please and thank you.

I love these!! Better than plain ol’ cake pops!!!

I don’t know I’ve heard stories of people biting into those and it’s soap 😂

  14. Adorable!! Too cute to eat. They look way better than regular cake pops

  15. They’re magical! How fun would they be at a wedding?

These are soooo adorable! Great job! I would gobble these up in a heartbeat!! Got a couple answers/suggestions for ya:
    1. Use a box mix. Save the scratch cakes that don’t get all mushed up. And mix the cake straight out of the oven and you won’t need any buttercream!
    2. Don’t put your cake pops in the fridge once you’ve coated them. This can cause cracking from the temperature changes.
    3. You can absolutely freeze them! Just put them in an airtight container to freeze. When you’re ready to eat, take the container out and don’t open it before it comes fully to room temp.

I LOVE this. Super adorable. I don’t think I would have the patience to decorate each one.
