It honestly tasted great , I need a lot of progress , but I’ll forgive myself sense I’m just a beginner

Things I’ll fix next time :

1- to not cut the cake unless it fully cooled down because it shrinked kinda badly and didn’t fit into the cake ring I cut it with

2-soak it more , it seemed like it didn’t have any coffee , because I feared it would soak up too much after my past tiramisu experience

3-figure out this buttercream separation thing because it looks frustrating( ruined the whole thing) and the texture of it is grainy

4-try to make the layers more even , I’m horrible at leveling

Overall a fun cake to make and nice coffee flavor

Opera cakes are extremely technical and tricky; you’ve done an absolutely fantastic job for your first one! Truly

  4. Heh, this title reminds me of myself. I always want my first try at any bake to be perfect and I’m hard on myself when it’s not.

Consider the first one a rough draft… You learned a lot from it and you know the pitfalls now. I’m betting you’ll nail it on your next try.

You have to learn the thing before you can be a master at it! Keep it up!

  5. I stopped scrolling and thought to myself “MAN that looks good,” so you’ve definitely accomplished something here

Buttercream splitting means the butter you added to the pate bomb was too cold. I suggest beating the butter separately before mixing with pate bomb.
