Not all steaks in Europe look like the cow has been running marathons across fields and deadlifting in their sleep. You just need to have a good relationship with your butcher so you are the first one to receive the higher quality cuts! The quality can be a bit hit or miss if you just go to your local butcher since our steaks are not labeled 'prime' or 'choice'.
This does mean that they all have the same price. The cut above cost me 24€ per kg (so about 12€/lbs).

Which EU country? I’ve been having a tough time finding proper butcher being out of the states. Is this USDA?
Edit: I see you mentioned they don’t label it choice oe prime. Same here. Most butchers when I ask what grade it is they say “USDA” 🫠
Is that ribeye?
But fucking expensive …
Here I pay like 70€ / kg for a good rib eye…
I’m client at ISPC Gent, they have amazing cuts (simmentaler, holstein, wagyu,..) at super decent prices. 25-35€/kg
You need a company though if you wanna be a client there.
Think you need to find a better butcher, Europe in general had high quality beef, so do many countries but USA pumped full of hormones and antibiotics a lot of the time, Japan, great if you love fat, Australia, awesome taste but at times on the tough side, Argentina not much bad to say, but hard to get depending where you live, Uruguay the same
I’m still seeing a lot of lean meat on your steak, if it’s not a lump of lard why bother. /s
If you can’t make a Belgian white blue taste good, you shouldn’t be cooking steaks.
No fat, amazing taste.
What are you on about mate? Spain produces the best tasting steaks in the world. The entire north from Galicia to the Basque Country is renowned for its delicious breeds. The highest quality steak I’ve ever tasted was a dry aged Txuletón from the Basque Country.
Talking about Europe and good steaks, if anyone here is living in Germany, I’d love to hear about your sources.
People here will say it’s rare
*american finds out cows live outside the US, too*
What do you mean actually ?
Here in Barcelona I find them in all fashion from cheap and ok to pricey and amazing
A tomahawk will go for 30€ a kg usually which is fine seing how many people it can feed
Scotland, France and Spain all produce some of the best beef in the world
Scotland produces some of the best steak in the world, and I’ve had amazing steaks all over Europe. I think as a continent we’re just generally less red meat obsessed than our American counterparts so maybe it comes across that way?
